Phoenix, AZ: Roush Performance and Mustangs Across America
have teamed up to for the 40th Anniversary Drive in April of 2004.
Roush Performance of Livonia, MI will provide a specially built
Roush Mustang convertible to pace the milestone event in celebration
of the Mustang’s 40th Anniversary. The caravan drive which
spans the continent starts in Los Angeles on April 11th 2004, gathering
Mustangs from all over the country to attend the big 40th Anniversary
bash in Nashville. “We are excited to have gained Roush Performance
as a partner in this event as they are one of the most significant
forces in the Mustang hobby.”, says event organizer Sam Haymart.
“Their products are the cutting edge of the Mustang’s
evolution and we really sought for them to showcase their cars with
our event”. Roush Performance has been building specially
prepared Mustangs for years at its Michigan facility building popular
Stage 1,2 and 3 Mustangs as well as special editions like the 380R
and Roush Classic. The cars are known as one of the best engineered
and fastest specialty Mustangs ever built. Roush Industries has
been involved with Ford Motor Company for over 39 years performing
a variety of engineering, testing , design and manufacturing projects
for their performance cars. A Roush Mustang is about as close to
a Ford factory car in durability and engineering as you can get.
“Mustangs Across America is an event which we really wanted
to support as it brings the enthusiasts together with the Mustangs
in a very unique way,” says Jack Roush, founder of Roush Industries
and owner of this years’ most successful NASCAR racing team.

The Roush 380R Convertible will lead the convoy of Mustangs which
will start with a group of 50 plus cars in California and grow to
well over 300 ponies of all vintages across the country as they
head for the MCA 40th Anniversary Celebration in Nashville taking
place on April 15-18, 2004. Enthusiasts from all over the nation
and abroad have already signed up for the convoy drive and are making
plans to join in at various points along the route. Traveling along
the I-40 corridor and paralleling Route 66 in some areas, the event
will mesh the old with the new both in experiencing the sights of
America as well as the Mustangs themselves.
The event is being organized with the teamwork of Mustang Clubs
all along the route including the Texas Panhandle Mustang Club or
Amarillo, TX, the Mustang Club of Oklahoma, Central Arkansas Mustangers
of North Little Rock, and the SVTOA in Memphis, TN. More organizations
and companies are joining the event as time goes on. Mustang enthusiasts
