Roush Charger Update

Felt like I should give credit where it's due with an update on my S/C from ROUSH.
I returned to the installer today and had a live scan done and it came back fine. Apparently the odor issue is possibly related to either an evac problem which would be unrelated to the ROUSH CHARGER install and/or simply heated cats transmitting fumes inside. I am comfortable that the rich smell has nothing to do with the tune ROUSH provided. As far as the evac..I will get it to a dealer to look into.

The installer has done 100's of installs and had a few things to say:
1) This kit is installer friendly (his words) more so than competitor kits.
2) Performance is comparable or superior to kennie bell, etc.
3) The obvious...it looks good comparatively.
4) Roush wasn't quick to return calls to him.

On the other hand, I found ROUSH to be supportive internally and even over the top in the customer service/follow up. Speaking of two individuals specifically. Shaun(customer service) and Todd(engineer). Both of these guys not only offered whatever assistance necessary but, took the initiative to CALL ME to follow up. Something I pride myself in with my own business but, experience rarely.
My car runs very good considering it's bone stock drivetrain aside from the S/C. I have played with and successfully overtaken a new Corvette, a GTO and a few others. Rubber that hooks up is important as the power is "electric" (over stock) with the boost out of the gate. Lots of "fishtailing" under WOT.

Thanks again to everyone for the advice and suggestions. The members make this site "fnsweet".

Oh man, that sounds good. I'm getting anxious but I'm trying to wait until after the holidays. Do you know if Roush extended the factory rev limiter at all? Their hp graph is steadily climbing all the way to the factory rev limit. Thanks for the report - sounds like you're enjoying it.

The rev limiter..(comes much quicker..oh yeah) and is at 6. Takes some getting used to, watching tach as opposed to the road.

Congrats! I have worked directly with Todd on diagnosing my detonated motor, and I appreciated his help.

That's BS...

Tell me how a .90 Eaton roots blower will out perform a 1.7 twin screw?

Not trying to be a hater but get your facts right before you write something like that.

SS the installer was talking about the stock form of each kit. In which they are comparable at that performance level. He did not say that the KB was not more upgradable.. Read before you guys pounce all over everyones statements.......... This is not STANGNET>>>

Also the KB is not even available on the 2005 so i guess the Roush kit is better at this point....

The Kb1.7 had the same hp gain as the 360R at 6lbs. The 380R had even more hp(125) on average than the KB still at 6lbs of boost....
You wanted someone to tell you how so i did !! This info is right off a the KB website front page...This is what happens when people listen to mustang peoples BS instead of doing your research ! jim

I added some facts from KB website in my last post a few different times .. But the 6lb 380R kit gave more HP than the KB l...look at at the KB website.
I do believe the Roush is probably easier to install but thart would be the installers judgement call... jim

WOW....a little sensitive on the KB issue obviously. Somebody read the posting rules and see if FACTS are required rather than opinions/impressions. This reminds me of what a site for nagging wife's site might look like. "Cant we all just get along" Damn

The screw-type blowers are more efficient, but that doesn't mean you can't get good results with a roots-type blower. I might consider a Whipple or KB, but most of their kits look like they were fabbed up in someone's garage. The Roush kit is perfect for what I want to achieve with this car, and I can make additional power later when the warranty is out. That said, I do wish Roush would have used the MP112(a la '03/'04 Cobra) for a little additional potential down the road. I'm sure they had their reasons for choosing the MP90 however.

I chose the roush s/c as I feel the enginerring was better at roush from the feed back that most guys with older roush on being happy with performance and reliabililty with theirs. So far in my kit I just received I see the parts in the box look like there are going to work well. The boxes are well label for the install. When I do the install I will post pics and comments as we go along.

If this is something you are seriously considering. Maybe we should get together sometime and I'll let you see what the issues are and how it performs first hand. I will be in town until thursday of this week and returning after the new year. Let me know.
