Quick muffler advice

hey i need some advice from yall. Currently on my Roush i am running w/o mufflers and i like the sound but its not near loud enough. I am already getting a x-pipe but i wanted to know if i added mufflers would the sound actually get louder or quiter. Different muffler shops have given me mixed opinions. Would adding glasspacks make it louder or quite it down compared to running none at all? thx in advance.....

Just glass packs, IMO, would probably give it more volume, but I think in a bad way. Too high and popply for the V8 in her. You'll get more sound with a catless x-pipe, as the CATS will baffle some of the sound. I've got a Roush Offroad system, and it is plenty loud.

SS, If Im not mistaken the long tube headers make more HP, deeper sound, right? how about shorty headers? the ones that loop around like 5 times but they're the same length as stock, any difference in sound? Deeper? more flow?

You'll get more flow, and should produce some deeper sound, mind you not as much as long tubes. That's next on my shopping list after painted stripes and extra clear...

What did they get you for the off road, did you drop the system that came with the car, and was does the off road consist off. I have 2 1/2 inserts in my mufflers that I sued to beef up the sound, but I am looking for more. PS are headers easy to install

Off road system is essentially direct bolt up twin can exhaust from the axle back, with all hardward and new tips. Direct fit of the old system. Takes about an hour w/o even jacking the car. I got mine through Stage 3, I think it was about $560 or something shipped to the door. It made a huge difference on sound. My neighbors constantly comment, jokingly, that they know what I am leaving...and these are neighbors that live 1/2 a block down the road. At least it sounds like a Roush now and not a GT Mustang - distinctive. I've got an earlier post with sound clips somewhere on the board. Header issue, don't know, that's on a list of things to do. It sure looked tight when I did the x-pype, but you could still see light so that's encouraging.
