Steering Wheel Mod

I wanted to let everyone know how I did my steering wheel mod. I am NOT selling this, just wanted to share. It is a GT wheel with the pony package inserts. The mounting clips had to be removed, I used my dremmel and it worked great. The inserts need to be shortened. You have to do this carefully. The inserts are brushed aluminum laminate over plastic. They are $20 from the dealer. This is a great mod if you got a dremmel for Christmas and are looking for something to do with it!!! The inserts on the Pony package are inlayed, on the GT wheel, they will be raised a little. It gives the steering wheel some texture, it took me a little while to get used to it, but now I dig it! Mod to money ratio, I give it a 10!! Matches my brushed aluminum dash perfectly!

Jim,

Looks great. I took the lazy mans way out and purchased the upgraded steering wheel and had it put on my car by the dealer.

By-the-way, I like your dash. I have the "carbon fiber" look dash from Roush on my car. Did you have it on yours and take it off to put on the aluminum look? If so, how much work was it?

While I like the carbon fiber look, I don't like the fact that there are NOT two pieces covering the area above the glove box.
