GEARING 05's

I need some feedback on gear changes.

Leaning toward 4:10's.
3:73's at least.
Anyone who has 4:10's give me some info. on what you're getting on the street.

I had 4.10's in my '04 Mach and loved them! I have 4.10's waiting to be installed in my '05, I can't wait.

4.10's going in on Monday. Ill post results. If you're going to do it, get the FRPP gears. Better tolerances. No whine.

summit

those are all good places, and usually have the best prices.

LVRoush,

Not worth it to get the 73's, should at least go to 3.90's or 4.10's.

Not by itself, you need to use a speedo recalibrater or a handheld tuner to change for the gears. On my '04 I used the one sold by Brothers- see this link It uses little switched inside the box to set the code depending on old to new gear ratios, it was really easy to install and setup.

Got 4.10's on my 05 and wouldn't go back. Don't know what the hype was all about. They are great gears. As for Ford gears, get them if you can b/c I heard rumor they stopped making 4.10's. I went the MOTIVE, and yes, there's whine, but everyone says the same thing ... they do and they don't whine. Mine had a good mesh and can only summize that some imperfection in the casting exists in the gear. I don't even pay attention to it anymore.

05 gearing

This is my son's car we just installed a 3.90 gear.... what an improvement perfect for street and highway....a must have...... I thought 4.10 was too much as we are planning a super charger in the near future.... I also welded the tubes to the housing, added addtional support out the lower control arms, powder coated the housing assy... and added a Ford Racing girdle cover.

Not exactly....... if you have probally not noticed, the 3.27 gear ratio is not in the new mustangs, it's 3.31: now. Ford has made a change in the way they make the gears, the first set where the 3.55:'s which are made differently now. The 4:10's and 3:73's will both also be changed.

s/c and 4.10's

I just put 4.10's behind my roushcharged engine, and it is awesome. Still fine on the highway, but the car practically leaps when you gas it. Ford Racing, and not a bit of whine. The speedo recalibrator from Brothers DOES NOT WORKon the 05-06. I was told when the Roushcharger was put in not to use a handheld tuner on it. does anyone know how to recalibrate the speedometer? Help!

If the speedcal is not working, the handheld tuner is your only other option. I would imagine that they said not to use this as it may void your warranty.

I just ordered 4:10's from gefracing. I also ordered the install kit. The only question I have is did I order the right install kit? There were 3 of them, I ordered the 38$ one. I hope it is right. Could someone please tell me the difference and if I ordered the right one? Thanks!

Kit

There really isnt a kit. Just a seal. You should replace the crush collar and bearing, though. The only wayt to recalibrate the speedo, per POUSH, is by the ford dealer, or with a handheld, but make absolutely sure nothng else is changed in the program. Trust me, the thing is extremely sensitive, you dont want to change anything anyway. Roush has a great and safe setup.

Oh, yeah

I meant to post on here, I called roush, and they told me I could either have the dealer recalibrate the speedo for the gear, r use the handheld, but I have to make sure nothing else is changed at all except for the gear ratio. No problem there, it fixed it all right up.
