Strut Tower Brace W/Plenum Cover

Any of you 05-06 guys using a Strut Tower Brace along with the Plenum Cover? I've seen it work with the Steeda but I bought the Ford Racing Performance version. Getting ready to bolt it on tonight but worried about clearance issues.

Thanks

I'm not any help to you, but thinking of doing the same myself. I'd like to know how it worked out.

If it's close, I plan on putting washers underneath the brace to bring it up a hair. I'll post before and after pictures as usual if it works. Check out my other posts for mod's I've done on my car if you're looking for ideas. I see you're from Irving. Buy yours at Grand Prairie Ford or Garland Ford? Did you go meet Jack Roush last Thursday? Maybe we can hook up at a car show or something.

All my pictures are posted through a URL link back to my private server. Haven't posted any directly to fnsweet.com. I believe there are instructions on how to do this at this site so, look around. I read the Jack @ GP post and saw that you made it there. I missed it due to emergency fn surgery I had to have the Thursday prior and was not up to going. Missed the whole NASCAR weekend out at TMS too. ~Fish~ was going to try and at least get me an autograph. I'm doing two car shows this weekend if you are up to it. Let me know.

If the shows are semi-local (I'm on call for work this week, could have to leave at a moments notice) count me in. Looked for Fish at the races but no luck.

OK,

It's Official! It doesn't fit, not even close. I've seen posts with the Steeda version and Plenum cover together. Guess I'll try that next.

I have the Ford brace and it would not work with the plenum cover. And if you put washers under the brace, the brace pushes harder into the hood insulation, and you cut down on the holding power of the strut bolt and nut. They are barely long enough as it is.

I bought the Steeda version last night. Didn't know about the Roush version. Hopefully it will be compatible with the Plenum cover. If so, I'll swap them out and sell the Steeda to a regular 05-06 Mustang owner. Guess I should have just blown my money on the CAI upgrade instead.

I just installed my Steeda brace the other day, it hits the plenum also. It was this one:

I've seen pics at Midwest Autogear with the Steeda / Plenum combo. Are you going to keep yours and let it rub on the Plenum?

Yea, I think I'll leave it on for a while and see how it looks in a few days. If it looks like it is okay and not cracked, I'll leave it on. When I put it on, it was about 1/2" from sitting down on the strut towers. Oh well.....

1/2"? Wow, I don't think the Ford racing one was off by that much. I'll test fit both of them again when the Steeda arrives. Which ever one works better I'll keep and return/sell the other. Thought I read somewhere that Midwest redesigned the cover to be lower so this may be another option. If just the paint get's rubbed off on this plenum, I'll have it custom air-brush painted and sell it to someone that is interested in the cover but not the brace.

I just went out to the garage and removed the brace. There were no rub marks on the plenum cover and when I reinstalled it, the gap was less, so it seems the pressure from the brace has pushed the cover down.

Let me know what happends 65AND05, I have the Plenum Cover as well and I've been thinking of getting the brace.
I had the cover painted with Roush Racing on it, its looks awesome, I'll see if I can take a pic tomorrow and I'll post it.

I have the one from blue oval industries with my plenum cover. Its close but no enought to scrape or rub. Even on high revs when the engine twists, still no touch.

Run2Speed,

Exactly, which brace are you using. I can't tell from the pick. Is it from Ford Racing??? Powder coat black with a polished "Ford Raing" logo in the center??
