im trying to decide if getting a s/c is worth it

i have an 06 roush and im contemplating whether to get a s/c or not?..would it be worth it? i heard it gets alot less gas mileage, and im getting not so great gas mileage as we speak with the v8..but like most guys..i need more power..and i probably will drag it in the future...any ideas?..would be greatly appreciated..

Unless you're a woman, or a man who's insecure about your sexuality, not only is it worth it, it's a neccesity...

Just sold my new kit, only because I have LARGER expectations.

Supercharger

Buy it...........I did. Gas mileage is about the same. It only guzzles gas when you use it. You do, however, have to buy premium.

Big deal.

MPG??? Whats that? Economy cars include that...even a mustang V6. I agree with CRAZY HORSE...it guzzles when you use it..YOU WILL.
MORE HP = LESS MPG, Supercharger or not. I have the Roushcharger...it's clean and works perfectly. Night and day "fun factor" from stock. You'll wonder why you spent time wondering.
P.S. If you thought gas was pricey, wait til' you start buying new rubber.

I just had a guy stop buy to buy my old intake manifold I took off when I did the roushcharger install. He was rebuilding his engine in his 05 gt it bew up with the prochatger he has on it. He brought over some of the parts that blew , rods and pistons etc. he was running 12psi. The connecting rods the way they were bent you could see that too much boost and the 9.8 stock compression ratio is too high for that amount of boost and the rods are too soft.. His new engine is now 9.1 compression. He was running 535hp when it blew. I took him for a ride in mine. The thing he really notice was with normal driving you could not tell it had a s/c. He told me his made a noise all the time. It does not have the 500hp like his but being around the 370 the engine will take itand a pleasure to drive. Look at all the guys on different sites that are blowing their engines and the ones that say that they are running 500-600 with no problem are full of s**t or they don't even own one. Some of those guys can't afford to fix so duhh!! what were they thinking. I have one local tuner who wants me too bring my rouscharger to him to tune!!! Like WTF I think he thinks his better then roushracing. I laugh and I would have to have gone completely insane to let someone play around with the roush tune. P.S .This was my rant of the day

I see the same thing on other sites, saying they make more power and runs more boost than the Roush setup and that it's over priced, then 2 months later, their engine blows. I don't see any savings there.

my attitude is, do you (being mr. tuner) think you are gonna out smart Mr. ROUSH bad ass nascar that builds all the Ford nascar engines, dodge viper racing team engines, crate motors, etc etc etc. and give me a better tune then ROUSH themself while they have at least 2 yrs to figure it out and you have 4hrs? That was exactly what i told the dyno guy when he said they could get me 20hp easy. I said, thanks, but no thanks. some things you can maybe improve on in the car, but as far as the S3 tune, i am not touching it, period!

That's how I feel about it the same way. Too many sallen, kb, and other types that don't have the luxury of a proven race company doing your tune

I went with a KB, because the Roush kit doesn't fit 99s. Having said that, if I were to supercharge the wife's 05 I probably would do the Roush kit just because of their reputation, even though I have no problems with the KB.

As for mileage, it's not really that bad. I've been keeping very close track of my mileage since I added the supercharger.

Here are the results for the five gas receipts I have on hand:

Tank--Gallons--Miles--MPG
1-----11.737--250.7--21.359
2-----11.607--267.1--23.025
3-----12.714--293.7--23.100
4-----12.825--266.3--20.76 (liberal use of the right foot on this one)
5-----11.803--270.0--22.875

Average 22.22 MPG, not too bad.

1st race

Just had my first race with Corvette C4. Neck and neck until about 70mph when I had to shut it down for traffic in my lane. He had aftermarket mufflers but not sure what else. My guess is he had done some work because his car was pretty dressed up.

I know when I had my Corvette I used to dust the older Mustangs regularly, so I'm sure this guy was a little surprised.

The Roush charger is worth every dime.

1st race

By the way, it was a C5 not a C4. You would think I could get that right since I owned one of each.

I'm probably one of only a few converts from Corvette to Mustang, but I love this car.

Does the a/c really shut down at full throttle? I've never heard that.
