2006 Sport or Stage 1???

I'm getting ready to purchase a 2006 Roush in the next week. I am looking at either a Sport or a stage 1. I'm going to look at a 2006 Tungsten Grey sport with hoodscoop, chin spoiler, hood scoop plus a lot of other extras tomorrow. I was originally thinking of getting a stage 1 but it seems the only difference between the two are the wheels. It seems to make sense to me to just get the sport and then purchase new wheels and you would get virtually the same exact car as a sport just for a couple grand cheaper? I mean I know it would not say "Stage 1" on the rear but... Oh well what do all of you think??

That's the route I went. The Roush rims are a bit pricey for a basic 5 spoke that say's "Roush" on it. Now I'm looking at different 18's or 19's to purchase.

BTW, I think your car would look better with just one Hood Scoop!

Have fun!

Welcome snk1233!

That is a tough question. It seems like you are balancing it well already because the important thing is to consider what you plan on doing with the car.

I presume you have been to www.roushperf.com to review the items included in each package to make the right comparisons.

Good luck in deciding!

Yeah I have been to the website numerous times over the past two weeks to try and decide. I like the rims on the stage 1's but it just seems like it is a lot of extra money for just that difference between the sport and stage 1. I mean I can get the car for around 5grand cheaper than a stage 1, add 19" rims and tires for around $2k and have it still be cheaper than the stage 1. I mean don't get me wrong, I think the stage 1 is awsome looking and does sound cool but I am just perplexed at why it is so much more.

When I bought my Sport it's all they had. If I had to do it all over again I would get a Sport again and mod it like I wanted to. Like I am doing to this one. Otherwise, then I would just go all out for the Stage 3.

With what I have done so far I am still below the cost of a Stage 1 or 2.

Yeah, the more I am thinking about it the more I am convinced about the sport being the right choice for me. I'm going to Sayville Ford tomorrow to meet with Jack, to look at an '06 Tungsten Sport. I'll PM you and let you know how it went so in a month when I'm gonna be on the island permantly we'll prob see eachother at baldhill or some other event.

Excellent. I was over there on Saturday to see my brother and looking at possibly getting something to use daily with a little better gas mileage and was talking with Jack.

I saw a couple of models and colors on the lot...and they all look sweet. Jacks a real good guy, he'll take care of you I'm sure. Have fun checking them out....as confusing as it can be it really is fun though.

Can't go wrong with the color choice It sounds like you've researched your choice, and it really boils down to how much you wanna spend and be comfortable about it. Whatever you go with, it's a Roush at any stage

I bought a sport also and changed out the wheels (see pic in sig). Like you said, you'd save a few grand and then you could get whatever wheel/tire package you want.

Luckily for me my dealer and I came to an agreement!

I bought the Stage2 and sold back the wheels to them to put on a Sport. That way I coudl go get the wheels I wanted 20" Chrome.

Talking Insurance

Something else to think about: I went from an '03 Mach I to my '05 Roush Sport Convertible (with Roush supercharger) and my insurance went DOWN $449.00 per year because the Sport VIN is for a GT!

You can always add on to a Sport but keep the cheaper insurance!

Our Stage 1 vin comes up as a GT, so we have a standard GT rate thru State Farm. My neighbor is an adjuster for them and says we are fine, we are covered but advised State Farm most likely would put us on a premuim rate if we file a claim for any Roush related items (like body work) at some point.
