2005 / 2006 Alarm Question

I just got my stage 2 with the upgraded passive alarm system that is suppossed to activate after 1 minute of leaving the car regardless of wheather you activated it or not. It doesn't seem to do this and I'm wondering if they installed the right alarm. When I push the lock button on the key fob the doors just lock. If I push it twice I hear the horn beep once and then a second time but mucher quicker and quieter. I remember on my 2001 GT I would hear the "chirp chirp" sounds when I locked it. With this 2006 Roush it seems as though the alarm is just a horn alarm? I have spoken to the dealer and he told me it might be in valet mode and to switch back and forth I have to close all the doors and turn the car on and off three times. I have been messing around with it but it seems the only change this makes is the horn doesn't beep when I lock the car. I'v noticed that there is a small black push in button under my dash. Does this have anything to do with the alarm system? Should my alarm be just a horn only alarm or should I be hearing the traditional chirping alarm sound when I lock it? Also does any body know of any settings that can be changed with the alarm?

Thanks

Sounds like you didnt get the passive alarm system. Mine does the same thing.Try this sit in the car and dont move for about 3 to 5 min after locking yourself in with the remote. Then move around the alarm should honk horn and flash lights. Also look at rear view mirror mount see if there is two sensers on it .Post a pic of mirrior and I can tell you if you have the alarm or not.My wife has this system in Her 2005 Mustang GT.Hope this helps.

Mine just flashes the lights when I hit the lock button once, and honks the horn when you hit it a second time. Like the previous post, check your rearview, the sensors are also for the passenger side airbag, but if you have the alarm, put the windows down and lock it. After a few minutes, if you reach in, or wave your arm in there, your alarm should go off. Oh ... don't ever lock the doors with someone in the car if you run into the bank! Don't ask me how I know, let's just say I had a very freaked out wife when the thing went off on her!

I just took these of the rear view mirror. I didn't see any visable motion sensors when I looked but hopefully you can confirm that. Also if I do have the passive alarm upgrade (which I def. am suppossed to) is the alarm just a series of horn beeps? or is there a different traditional bells and sirens alarm?

Thanks for the help

Sorry I ment on the overhead lamp mount there should be sensers. It will also show you in your mustang owners manual.

Ohh ok. I'll take more pictures and also check the manual. But is that all the upgraded alarm does?

I tried taking some pics tonight but it was too dark to come out right. I was however looking closely at the rear view mirror mount where it attaches to the wind shield and the overhead dome light mount. On both of these I did not see anything that looked like a sensor. I will post pics tomorrow of them when it is lighter but what would this sensor look like? I went through the owners manual and it talks about activating and disarming the optional active alarm system but I didn't see any pictures of sensors, nor did the manual talk about the passive alarm system upgrade.

Alright, I'm getting what you are asking about now. There is no passive alarm upgrade. The upgraded system is known as the active alarm option. The passive system is what comes standard on the cars, and it really just is a very basic system. The active system, which I ordered on my car, monitors the interior space, all locks, doors, trunk, and has a meter that goes off if someone tries to tow it. The best way to tell if you have the upgraded alarm is to check your battery, if it's the active, it will have a 130v battery, if not it's a 120v. They upgrade the battery due to the higher draw the active system has.

Oh Ok I'll have to check that tomorrow. Sorry about the confusion. When I was purchasing the car the dealer called it the passive alarm upgrade by mistake. He had told me that the upgraded alarm I got would activate automatically after 1 minute if I left the car but forgot to arm the alarm and that it would also have the motion sensing interior. So far tho it doesn't arm automatically after 1 minute. I'll have to double check it agian with him. THanks for all your help tho.

If your red alarm light is flashing on the dash, it's armed. It doesn't make any noise when it arms itself or when you hit your keyfob once. It's meant to be quiet, it's a sign of Ford quality.
