Crease in steering wheel ??

The center portion just above the pony symbol looks as if it has a crease running straight up it. Is this normal? I have seen it some other pics on this site too.
Do I need to get it replaced?

Maybe it is suppose to be like that for air bag deployment, sort of like a perforation? I can't recall if mine has that or not.

I think its a result of heat that the air bag crease starts to become more noticable.

All the above is correct. Unfortunately Ford went with the lowest bidder on much of the interior parts. This the inner perforation shows through.

Heck! Atleast you have leather on your steering wheel! My ole 05 Sport had that wonderful plastic which is left over material they used to make the center console lid and inside door panels with! Boy what an ugly steering wheel it was. Ebay has leather wrapped steering wheels going for $500! Crazy!

I looked at mine this morning and mine has it too, although not as noticeable. Like MustangOne noted, Ford bean counters strike again!

It's for the airbag, that way when it goes off, it can wedge the Pony emblem into your forehead!
