B&M Shifter

So I was at Hot August Nights in Reno this year and I went to the Big Boy's Toys store...Holy crap they had some cool stuff there, as well as two hot models, but I digress...

So, I stopped in at the B&M booth to ask them if they had their short shifter for the 05+ Mustangs out yet...Sure enough they do, and the actually had one on display. Felt like a nice solid unit (but I would expect no less from B&M). The rep said he had one on his 05 and gave it a thumbs up, but I would like some opinions from those that aren't paid to say it is nice. It also appears to be a steal at $200 through Summit Racing, compared to the $250+ for some of the other shifters.

I couldn't find any reviews when searching, so if anyone has any input that would be great.

i had a steeda then an MGW shifter in my '03 cobra. MGW was the preferred choice for most of those drivers. they have not produced one for the S197 yet. i went with the hurst shifter, $185 delivered from lethal performance. it is extremely short throw and has the retro white knob w/ shift pattern. i like it alot. go to www.modularfords.com and search for shifters in the 05+ forum. you will get loads of info there

Haven't looked into the 05-07 model shifters yet, but I had a B&M "Ripper" on my 98 cobra. The quality and feel during shifting was greatly improved.
I did see a shifter the other day for the 05-07 as I was surfing the net. The longer extended runner bar was a thick square shape and anodised red. Looked really strong compared to the skinny round ones on most of the other shifters around. I'll see if I can find it again and post the link.

I agree with budgreen, the Hurst is a nice shifter, and is cheaper than the others. I am very pleased with it.

Once again, please go with the Roush short shifter not only for keeping your car all Roush but also for quality. If you do a search you will find that one of our vendors recommended the Roush short shifter over the Steeda or the B&M and he carries all 3. He said that his customers had problems with the Steeda, but not with the Roush unit.

I thought the Roush Short Shifter was made by Steeda and was the same shifter?????

Roush Short Shifter was made by Steeda
Its like saying Jessica Simpson and Brittany Spears got the same parents. Brittany is the Steeda of the short shifter. But seriously, no they don't collaborate or like to be even mentioned in the same sentence. PM Mike over @ Apex, they carry both and they can tell you the pros/cons of each, but if its my money, I'll ride Jessica anyday over Brittany.

We've had alot of complaints about the Steeda shifter... many customers feel it is clunky and difficult to get into reverse. I believe the Pro 5.0 seems to be very good as well as B&M. Another real good option is, dare I say it on this board, the "Saleen Short throw Shifter Kit" and it is only $40. It basicly shortens the throw of your stock shifter. I have it on my car and like it alot.
