4.10 Gears to Roush Charger Setup

Hi Guys

I new to this board. I have recently installed the Rosuh SuperCharger
in my 05 Mustang GT. I love the car. It has been totally transformed.

I was wondering if anyone has heard if Roush will be coming out with a reflash to allow us to put different gear ratios in our cars.

Our maybe there is a work around for this?

Thanks in Advance.

J

Welcome. Post up some pics...I am sure others will chime in on the gears.

you can put the gears in and just adjust the flash yourself with a SCT tuner, but as stated in the warrenty, any changes will void it.

Does Roush have the computers unlocked now? Roush used to lock the computers so you could not reprogram their program.

Welcome to the site. Post some pics.

To answer your question.... They will probably not upgrade the computer just for gears. They might one day offer an upgraded tune like they did for the S3s.

No you would have to get a whole new computer to do any kind of custom tuning.

New Computer & Custom Tune

I've been wondering about this.
What would the process be to accomplish this?

1) With the SCT Tuner copy the existing Roush tune.
2) Copy the tune to the new computer.
3) Replace Rosuh computer with new computer
4) Add the gear change.

I realize that this will void the warranty.

Thanks for responses.

New Computer & Custom Tune

One more question.

Will the Roush bypass valve still work with the new tune?

Thanks in Advance.

I dont think you will be able to copy the roush tune. They have protection in place. I know they use to physically alter the computer so you could not hook anything to it to copy or alter the tune.

I was told that Roush will not alter the tune for anything. Your only option would be to get the car retuned with the gears added in. I do not know what the process is for doing the change, others here seem to have an idea though.

All I know is that Roush will NOT alter the tune.

on another note.

I really don't see why you would put 4.10 gears on with a roots blower like the Roush. They make good tourque numbers and you can really mess with the power band by going too low. I would think that 3.73 would be a low as you would want to go with the Roushcharger. JMO.

I've kinda been flip floppin on whether or not to go 3.73 or 4.10.
4.10 probably would be to tall.

The other thing I've been considering is going to a t-56 6 speed tranny.
Closer gearing and having that extra 6 gear for crusing on the highway.
I've heard that some Cobras with that tranny can get an easy 30 mpg.

Thanks for the replies

There must be a way to copy the tune, protected or not. The ECM's are not altered in anyway. The guys at Steeda just did two Roushcharged cars w/theit cold air intakes and tune to get another 30hp out of them, and they did not swap out the ECM itself.

I've been talking with Justin at VMP Tuning. They have tuned several 05 Mustangs with the Roush Super Chargers. They use the SCT X-Cal2 Tuner.
They are able to download the Roush tune as a base tune and build on it.
Justin said that the Bypass Valve works fine, as well as the IC.
He recommends changing the pulley and the cold air intake.
Gear changes are a breeze as well as any other mods that need to be added.

Hope this helps

That is good Info to know for sure. I will be changing out the pulley eventually. My Autometer gauge as not made it to even 5psi so far. I would like to be more like 6-8 i think. I am not sure how much power these motors will take and still make miles on the odometer. I am hard on the car so the tune and the power level both need to be reasonable but I would like at least 500 at the motor, shouldn't be too hard.

So are these cars Stage 3's, or are they added on Roushcharged cars?

I really like the Roush intake pipe, but I really would like to change out the UGLY factory air box. I might change the whole pipe in time but not for less then 10 hp.

That's just a misconception.

Roush has never "locked" any PCM.

Some early Stage 3s PCMs may have had the rear "chip" port cut off so that an aftermarket chip could not be installed, but the PCMs were never locked.

I thought they did that to all of them.
