Talking Roush off road exhaust

I am really considering the roush off road exhaust for my 06. Can anyone tell me about how much louder it is over the stock Rouch mufflers?? Is it worth the cost to keep it all Roush? Thanks.

OK, since Markass would come right out and say it....I will. The "off-road" refers to the absence of catalysts. Catalysts are found in the mid pipe. It has nothing to do with the muffler. They are not "supposed" to be street legal due to EPA, FDA, DEA or some other 3 letter agency's regulations. However they are used by us renegade outlaws because removing restrictions from intake and exhaust allows an engine to inhale and exhale much better. Ergo, more horepower and torque.

The answer to your question is.....MUCH louder! An off-road pipe will make even the tamest of mufflers seem loud. Ask my wife! She won't even drive the Roush because it is too loud for her...and I have fairly quiet Magnaflows.

SORRY, I just realized that Markass wasn't commenting on the muffler question; just the spelling of the word ROOOOSHH

Well, it's pretty self-explanitory actually... "cat-back" refers to it being from the cat, back... Everything behind the cat is included in a cat-back exhaust. So, once again, cat-back = full exhaust less headers/manifolds and mid-pipe.

Actually, to be exact, for the 06's it's an axle-back exhaust. You get the mufflers and tips with the kit. It does not change anything forwards of the axle, your cats and mid-pipe and all that stay the same on your ROUCH. Yes it is much louder than the magnaflows that came with the car.

Rangersfan has it right. It is an axle back system that contains the mufflers and tips and it is much louder than the stock mufflers. Given the price of it though, I would consider having the stock mufflers replaced instead of buying the entire axle back. I have the Roush offroad only because I found one used. There are a few threads about mufflers swaps in the SN-197 mechanical forum, check those out.

OK, I'm confused now

Does Roush call their axle back exhaust for 05-07 stangs and "off-road" exhaust???? If so, that's just wrong, misleading, whatever you want to call it.

Yes, for some reason, Roush calls their load and aggresive axle back "off road". There is also a "legal" version which is quieter.

offroad axleback

legal axleback

That is more than a little misleading. Traditionally, "off-road" refers to a catalyst free mid-pipe...

Offroad in this case is talking about how many db's the mufflers make compared to the regular ones. It is a lot louder than the regular ones.

With an xpipe, they are mean and loud. Your neighbors will wake up when it fire it up. I loved mine.

My 07 has the "legal" version, and I can tell you even that is to loud. It sounds just about like straight pipes at WOT, and it already caused me to get attention drawn to my car, good and bad. The long tubes, H Pipe with High Flow Cats make it roar, the extra HP from the ATI Procharger is what is really causing them to roar when the boost starts to come on.

I am looking to swap mine out, checking into Flowmaster 50's next week.

You own a Roush...give me a break..if you didn't want the attention then you should have bought a Focus...Who cares about the exhaust when your car already screams...."Write me a ticket..I'm speeding" even when your parked...It's just part of owning a bad ass ride as we do..You get used to it, or you sell it. PERIOD. No in between here.
