Warranty work on roush?

I'm new to this forum and I'm researching all that I can about Roush Mustangs before I make the plunge. One question I need to know is how will warranty service work for a Roush Mustang? The nearest Roush dealer is 65 miles from my home, while the nearest Ford dealer is 5 miles. If I buy from the Roush dealer, will I be able to get all my warranty work (including the s/c and tuning) done at my local dealer? Or do you have to take it back to the Roush dealer?

I was told by the Roush dealer any Ford dealership will honor the warranty, but do they really have the tech info to service it? Can a regular Ford tech do the work or do they have to be specially trained since normal Ford's don't have as s/c?

Thanks,

JIm

I'm assuming you're looking at a S3? If so, any issues a dealer can trace to the power-adder might give you some trouble. Factory coverage will be denied, and I'm not sure how a non-Roush dealer would go about recovering costs under the Roush-provided warranty. This would be the same for any issue related to any Roush-mod (suspension, etc...).

However, for things like crappy Shaker 500/1000 (what do Roush's come with?), the gas-tank problem, etc, you should be fine at any Ford dealer, unless the manager is a horses a$$.

I agree with the last post.

Roush offers no specific training to the dealers for their products. Nothing about diagnosing the system is any different from any other Ford vehicle, anyway.
Some less adventurous dealers (even Roush) may not want to deal with "something different" anyhow, so that could be an issue also.

But the really big issue will be if the dealer can handle dealing with the Roush parts/billing systems. Roush dealers are all setup to do so already. Going to a Roush dealer may be necessary because of that.

I think it comes down to what is being serviced on the car. Anything related to Roush, take it to a Roush dealer. All others can be taken to a non-Roush dealer. If you have a Stage 3, one thing you DEFINITELY want to inform the service rep of when you take the car in for service is that the computer has Roush software on it and NOT TO UPDATE IT WITHOUT CONTACTING ROUSH FIRST. It is my understanding that when a car is hooked up for diagnostics at a dealer, an option and supposedly routinely used is to update the software to the latest Ford version. This would not be good for a Stage 3. Just beware…

For what it is worth I am going through this right now as we speak.

Took my 05 into my local dealership.....Earnhardts (Ray & I10, AZ) to have a few Roush body parts fixed (side skirt falling off, wing lifting off). After trying to fix it THREE seperate times, I was told they would need to order new parts from Roush and I would get a call when the parts came in. After 3 weeks of calling every week and not getting a return call, I got pissed. So I decided to go down to the dealership and find out what the F%^K was going on. I was told Roush was dragging their feet and not getting back to the dealer. Dealer said they had a Approval code from Roush and they were waiting for parts....After one phone call from the dealership I found out that was BULL$hit.....they never got a approval code and Roush didn't have anything on file reference my car (Roush was great, Called me back in 15 minutes after leaving a message).

Now my car is at Sanderson Ford (A Roush dealer) that is approximately 35-40 minutes away getting the work done right. I told them to keep it as long as they need it to fix it right...the first time. They have had it two weeks so far and I get a call from them a few times a week to keep me updated....Much better service!!!

I guess Roush wants digital photos emailed to them by the dealership of the claimed parts or work, takes a little longer but what can you do.

Hope this helps.....cause my hands hurt from typing

Damn OJ, I coud have saved you the trouble. In Arizona, Sanderson Ford is on the west end of the valley and Bell Road Ford is on the north side. However, Sanderson is has much better customer service and the work that is done, seems to be done right the first time. Just ask Bluestang01, he took his car to Bell Road to have them paint a fender and they painted right around the Ford emblem so when he converted his car over to a Roush, there was a big nasty surprise when he removed the stock emblem.
I live about 75 miles from Sanderson but that is where I bought my car. Bell Road Ford wasn't very Roush literate when I was asking qustions. Funny story, I went to Bell Road about a month ago to see if they had any stage 3's on the lot. There were 3 salesmen on the patio outside. When I asked about the stage 3's, they all told me that Roush hasn't released the cars yet because they had not received the government approval or some crap like that. I just shook my head in amazement and left.
Sanderson actually sent me flowers after I purchased my Roush, how nice (blehh )
