Camshaft Upgrade

I'm in the midst of a camshaft upgrade and I thought I would post a before and after. I'm looking for improved high end torque and let's face it, who doesn't like a nice lope at idle? The Kooks / Roush off road combo I have now is pretty raspy so it should be interesting to see how things sound when the upgrade is complete.

I'm going with the Comp Stage 2 XFI SPR blower cams along with their highload springs and cam phaser set up.

I should get the car back in a few days and I'll post the dyno results and a sound clip then.

What's your current dyno #'s?

I'm looking at the JDM Stage4 or new Stage 5 package and wanted to compare.

Thanks

I've heard a few sound clips of cars with Ford's Hot Cams. They sound tough to me. Don't know what they do for performance, but the downside is it expensive "sound".

424 rwhp / 399 rwtq right now (sorry for the bad scan). I'm hoping the torque curve will level off a bit at 400 rather than drop back down to 350. I can feel the drop off in "pull" as the rpm's grow.

I am interested to see the numbers to. Now that it is getting cooler I want to get back up there for a few pulls to see what I get. My car feels really strong in 2nd and 3rd now with the 2.57 pulley and some temps below 100*.

Well, I got the car back the other day. We still have some playing to do with the tune but I'm pretty happy with it. Dropped about 10 rwhp and rwtq on the low end, gained about 30 for both on the high end. 450 rwhp at the peak. The car's behavior is different. It's not so inclined to spin the wheels at take off and it pulls harder at the upper end. Not extremely so, but I can notice the difference. This may sound kind of dorky....but I love the fact that car "shakes" when idling at a stop light. My wife hates it, which makes it even better!

All in all I'm happy. If you're considering cams yourself I would suggest shopping for something a bit more cost effective. These new Comp cams are expensive in my opinion, especially when you add in the valve springs and phase limiters.

This little clip doesn't do the lope justice, so I'll shoot some more tomorrow and try to get something better.

The car is loud now! I'm going to get busted for sure.....

Check out our Stage 1 & stage 2 cams; along with our Cam lock outs..
Cam & Lock out package $ 695.00
Stage 1 cam do not require a valve spring upgrade, but our stage 2 cams are designed for a forced induction set-up. Expect to pick up at least 45 hp our a stage 3 or 427R.

Not bad.....what rpm is your idle set at? Also can you tell me how much boost you are running with the smaller pulley?

The idle is set at 900 rpm. We're going to try to bring that down just a bit.

I don't have a boost gauge installed, but I would approximate the boost at about 8 psi based on other posts here.

After hearing Iflyagfour's and Cshore's cars in person, I'm convinced and going with the FRPP Hot Rod Cams. I know they don't improve performance that much, but DAAAAMMNNN they sound old school mean.
