Raced A SRT8 challanger

Earlier tonight was out for a nice lazy cruise and what do I have run up on me while cruising town? A new SRT8 challanger. I was not impressed with this car one bit final tally mustang 3 challanger 0. We made a rolling pull from 60 km(40ish mph) up to about 170 km (105 mph) the first pull and I pulled away hard. id have to say about 2 1/2 lenghts and he jumped me on the roll. A bit later we got a light and from a stop to 200km (125ish mph) I had pulled over 5 lenghts on him. On a stretch of highway i ran him out of speed and walked away when he hit the governer and it fell on its face. These things are quick? I was not impressed with it. But the mustang ran just perfect

SRT8 top speed is 170MPH, curious to know what your topspeed is.

Not entirely sure actually. I have been paced by my father with his z06 at 309 kms (about 190 mph) but by the seat of my pants feel and where the challanger feel off I dont think they go 170 becasue it was earleir than that when he fell off. Im almost thinking it was 155 mph when he wasnt able to go any faster

The Challenger is rated 170MPH out of the box, I am just curious because you said he hit his governor and began to fall off and now you got me even more curious because you said your father in his Z06 paced you at 190MPH. Whatever mod you have I want the same thing because I let my friend borrowed my Roush and raced him in my 2006 Z06, Roush never had a chance and hit the governor at 140mph.

I killed a brand new GTO the other day. The guy pulled up to me at the exit and said he had his pedal all the way , i was about three car lengths more than him. Another car with a 6.0 engine could not keep up with our little 4.6.

The GTO's are tanks and are not that fast against a s/c mustang.

I have to say the Challenger is a bit of a brick, and I would hate to have that car at 170mph. As for a Mustang I had my 98 GT at 140+ In my younger (Dumber) days on the freeway and about wrecked (and am sure died). I can't image a Mustang above 150 or so. I do think 190 MPH is out of reach of any street mustang. Aerodynamics are tad off for that.

I always thought that Roush removed the Governer on these cars. Maybe it depends on the tires, not sure what your stage 2 came with.

roush does not change the speed limiter that ford sets. it is either 140 or 142 according to ford. keep in mind that the speedos on ALL ford cars are a little off too.

I was under the impression that the speed limiter on the mustang was set at 153. I know I have had my stage 2 where the speedo was buried and my gps (I know it is not perfect) said I was doing 152!

I saw a charger in NYC last week, it is too big and bulbous for me. They should have kept it true to form like the current stangs!

the gt500 limiter is set that high, but the 4.6 is set at 140.

????
could be. all i know is that according to ROUSH, they do not mess with the speed limiter, and according to FORD, they are limited to 140.

The SRT8's are set at 165...according to the folks that run the SRT8 Experience. My brother in law has an 07 SRT8 CHARGER...and YES they are TANKS...but the 6.1L Hemi is mated to a 3.08 rear...not a whole lot of grunt down low...but once it gets past 110 it turns into a rocket. they are FLYING BRICKS...about 5K gross vehicle weight

You must have raced a half asleep driver or something that didn't know where the pedal was. I have a 427R and an 08 srt8 Challenger and the challenger is a big heavy car.......but it will paste your ass in the seat and just keep on a pulling. Bone stock using the onboard performance features the car ran a 0-60 4.91. There are a few out there running 4.6 and 4.3 with diablo tune. Go to the sites and check it. I love my Roush but I tell you what, the chally is underated and makes me sick of how fast and powerful it is. 430 natural big engine power vs. small 4.6 supercharged power. Big difference. But, I cannot wait as in 2 weeks I am putting long tube headers, pulley, exhaust, gears, cold air intakes and custom tunes on both cars!!!! I'm stoked.

MPH at 165 or 170, brick or heavy, either way I still don't see a Roush beating that topspeed unless there's a mod that I don't know about.

My buddy took the limiter off my Roush with the Ford computer. I noticed my 05 has 3.55 gears. Are 06+ different gears?

That new challenger is a beast. I was suprised to hear that there will be a 700hp challenger comming out! I've already seen them at the strip and they're impressive, just in stock form with radials. I didn't think the new (discontinued) GTO was that heavy, it can run a 13 sec 1/4 mile stock.(o5/06) Krcperformance.com has already modified the new challengers.

We've done alot of computer work, suspension, pullies and a few other things. The first thing that was removed was the governer when we started playing with the car. My gps that I reset when I had the system out 4 days ago says that the max speed hit was 298, and the only time Ive been on it since we had it out was when I raced the Challanger
