Panoramic Roof

What do you all think about the new glass roof option? Are there more than just one type of glass roof? If I am not mistaken the 2009 panoramic roof, CDC's glassback roof, and the new SMS Saleen glass roof are all different.

Saleen SMS

Which one is best? Anybody have pics?

I actually had the pleasure of sitting in a 2009 with a glass roof. We got in the car, pulled back the cover to see the glass roof. We had the car running and the air running.

It took about 2 minutes before the two of us sitting in the car had sweat dripping off our foreheads. It's kinda neat but not my thing.

I live in Florida. You would be crazy to buy one even with the retractable cover. I love Vert's but don't own one because of the heat. When I ride in my buddies we keep the air on with the top down. I do not see the attraction to the clear roof IMO. I would go for a Vert first.

I told my buddy when we were in one that the first thing I would do is Limo tint it.....I guess that defeats the purpose though.

Some other manufacturer's have a self-tinting window that can completely darken/block out 99% of the sun OR have almost a clear view. Variable tinting. High dollar stuff but would be great to have in these cases. The scenic roofs have been available for several years on the Mustang (aftermarket and Saleen). It just was a lot more expensive a few years ago.

I really like the look of these glass roofs. I miss having a sunroof too. Has anyone put in a sunroof? Reasons why/why not?

That's the good thing with having a vert, you can have the best of both worlds! Getting a "TAN" and "Cruising" at the same time!!! Like Pastor J said; you would need to tint the top just to stay in there!

I'm sure that some will like the "glass roof", but I'm not in the club. This is something that I just don't think belongs on a Mustang. Plus, I have my concerns about structural integrity in a roll over situation....or at least the amount of glass that would be flying about in a situation like that. As others have stated here....if you want the sun, go with a vert!

I'm wondering what the long term effects on the interior is going to be in these cars.

I think it would be hotter in the car with the glass roof than in my vert, I just picture a rather large convection oven and me cooking like a birthday cake.

The option is only $1800? Now that right there just caused me to start thinking. Not to offend anybody but i am a hard-top dude and i dislike the way the way the drop tops look on our cars - whether the top is up or down. Thats just me though. Since i don't really drive my car during the day, heat is not an issue. I like to roll out when its cool. I can just imagine taking my date, for the night , out to a spot with a good view of the city and being able to look up at the stars from the car seat. Plus privacy can easily be arranged if necessary

I have film on my house windows that is clear and blocks 99% UV and 90% infrared. (Infrared is the heat) You could do the same here, I would think.

Not for me. I'm with Ikandy on this one as far as a sunroof goes. I would much prefer a sunroof like I had in my '89 stang.

By the way Vista Blue, you cannot get a sunburn through glass as the UV rays are deflected by the glass.

Ford claims the glass roof has a SPF 50 sun block rating.

The heat from the Glass Roofs really aren't that bad... the worst part is when you get in AFTER the car has been sitting. I have one
