Question about air filter?

I had a new K&N air filter given to me. It looks just like the air filter that came with my car only twice as thick. Which filter should I run? Seems like the k&n would restrict more air. Thanks for your help.

I have a K&N in my 428R, no problems with stock tune, the blower is a little louder so I would say it is flowing a little more air. Roush used to put them in thier cars but now say the performance is not worth the extra $$$. I say put it in.

The filter that it came with is exactly like the k&n only half as thick. You clean it and oil it just like the k&n.

If what you have is a flat type that fits in your airbox, go for it.
BTW when oiling, it REALLY doesn't take much. We're talking cotton fiber here. Just a light mist along the edges and the oil will wick to the center.
Same when cleaning. If you use the K&N cleaning kit and cool or at most lukewarm water to rinse, you should be fine. Cotton, so no HOT water (shrinks).
I've used K&N's on bikes, in cars and in my trucks. Lasts forever, seem to work.

That would explain why it took so long to dry. I sprayed both sides liberally
