Anyone have a problem with filling their gas tank to full from empty, 1/4 or even a half tank??? I know there is a TSB from ford about 05-up hard or slow to fill . just curious if anyone has a suggestion on how to fill it with out going to the stealership????

Yeah, I'm having a problem filling my tank, but it's caused by the price of gas.
Seriously, there are a number of threads regarding this issue. Do a search and you will find most people suffer the same issue. It has more to do with the sensitivity of the filler nozzle than anything else. If you fill at one gas station, it gives you problems. Fill at another and then no problem.

I actually read about this on another thread and there were many who swore this worked. I have no problems filling mine other then the prices for super, but this is what was said. Turn your key to the on position and it circulates something in your fuel system allowing air and gas to easily enter the tank. If you don't mind and you try this, pm me and let me know how it worked. It can't hurt to try

thanks for quick info I am willing to try ANYTHING at this point !! we took the car to Atlanta this weekend for a show, and it drove us CRAZY!!! I can only get MAYBE 7 or 8 gals. even if the gauge shows empty,1/4 or even a half tank mark. I'll let you know if that works, and thanks again.

Carmen is right, lots have had issues with this. Interesting idea about the key, definitely post up and let us know if that works. I haven't had problems with mine lately, just depends on the pump and the station. I also read to try and turn the nozzle upside down, some have had luck with that too.

I have only had a problem a couple of times but when I did I simply turned the nozzle upside down and it worked fine.

I have that issue when its really hot and Brandii's been on the road!!Its a vent issue and while the dealers will fix it I have talked to some that have done the work themselves too because it was faster! NOW .. what was it excatly that they did to the gas tank I'm not sure - but in the mean time turn the handle upside down and pray!

I've never heard the Key trick - let us know!!

If you are covered by the TSB, "steal"ership or not, it is a free fix.

I started a thread on this last year, but I never got around to going to the dealer because I have only put in like 3 tankfuls since last year.
However after I went to a show sunday (hey I got 1st!), I had to refill.

The thing would only take 7 gallons. So I stopped it and then went to another pump at the same station, although it was backwards, or "uphill" from the prior spot. In addition I rotated the hose 90 degrees and sat there and held it at that position, and it worked, I got another 7 or 8 gallons in it.

So try rotating the pump or change to a different pump.

Had the same problem with wife's 05 when was new. Dealership put in new filler neck (tube) and never had problem again. That has been almost three years ago.

I had an 05 that did this. Dealership replaced the whole fuel tank twice before I could actually pump gas faster than a trickle at a time. Major 05 thing. Most of the 06's did not have this problem and my 07 has zero fuel issues....yet!

The 05's also had that fuel pump cavitation issue which occured while driving atleast a half hour on the interstate without going to idle. When the vehicle finally got off the exit and came to a stop, the acceleration after that stop was VERY exciting. The car drove as if you never drove a 5-speed before for the next minute of driving.
