Rough starting on cold start.

I've had my 427 for about a month with no problems. The last three mornings it has become harder to start. It spins over fine, but acts like it has no fuel. It takes a couple of times before it will start, then it runs rough for a minute before it idles right. Once it's started and warm,it will start like normal the rest of the day. I'm going to schedule a time with the dealer for early next week.Have any of you had any problem like this ???

Sounds like you have a tuning issue.

That's how mine was before the fuel pump quit completely.

The local had it a few days.Couldn't find any thing wrong. They double checked with Roush and told my wife it was fine and that these cars normally start a little hard when cold. They are not a Roush dealer . The dealer I got it from is 50 miles away. The car is garaged, and did not stumble when starting when we bought it. I call BS on this opinion. Any thoughts ?

Sounds like your best bet is to take it to your Roush dealer - or a trusted mechanic - just to be safe!

I know my car is somewhat finicky. Sometimes it has to crank for several seconds before it fires and even then, the rpm is a little low and builds up to its proper idle rpm. My car was in perfect tune as I had it dynoed a couple of weeks ago, but now that the morning temps are getting closer to zero, I notice a huge stumbling of the engine until it gets a little heat in it and then all is good. The tuner told me that these supercharged engines should be warmed up a bit before you start your regular driving. It probably has something to do with the mass air sensor acheiving a proper reading.
Your description of what your car is doing seems somethat similar to mine, however, as your car is new and under warranty, it probably would hurt to get it checked out at your Roush dealer for piece of mind. It would probably be a good idea to let them have it overnight so that they have a chance to start it "cold".

My rule of thumb is:

If it has tits or tires.........there's bound to be trouble!!!!!! LOL

My applologies to all our lovely female members.

Thumbs up

Sounds like a tune thing , or There may be a trouble code, in the cold start, there is a specific table in the tune for cold start a/f , They all should run cold and warm close to the same. Cold a little rough, just a little . Go to a Roush dealer and have them ckeck it . good luck

It's a tune issue. The tuner needs to adjust things for cold starts which is one of the bigger headaches for some tuners, especially if they only tune the basics of the setup, or don't have some trusted value files to work off of.

It could also possibly be a bad sensor somewhere, that is not reading right and not letting the computer set the a/f correctly for a cold start.
