Newbie

I am new to the forum and am in the process of purchasing a 2008 stage 3. Are there threads in the archives that can provide helpful information for someone new to the car and forums?

Thanks,

Pop Pop

Yes, searching will help and feel free to just ask if you don't find as there are a lot of knowledgable folks here that can help as well.

Welcome to the fn site and be ready with pics when you make your purchase.

Hi Pop Pop! Welcome to the FnFamily. This is a great place for all things Roush-related. Do you have any specific questions in which you'd like help answering? If so, feel free to just post them up here. This is an active community and odds are good that somebody will help you pretty quickly.

Tell us a little more about your upcoming purchase? What color, where are you buying it?

Welcome again,
Kandy

Thanks IKandy,

The 2008 stage 3 has 60 miles and is black with red stripes. It has the carbon fiber, short shift/black ball, side and rear louvers. What is odd is that it has red ROUSH big brakes up front but the rears appear factory stock and unpainted.

The black paint does not look metallic and I wonder how hard it will be to keep swirls, etc. under control. I gave had black cars before, but all had metallic paint.

Are there certain wax products recommended for this paint?

Wow, that sounds like a beautiful and RARE color combo! I just checked the 2008 production numbers and it looks like there were only 4 made in that combo!! See the list here: 2008 Roush Mustang Production Numbers

As far as the brakes, that is the setup on Stage 3's. They come with the Roush big brakes on the front, and the stock ones on the back. The rest of the features you listed are standard on a Stage 3 (they are fully loaded!) as well. You can compare features of the various Roush models on the Roush website at this link: ROUSH Performance - Vehicles

Not sure where you are located, and not to scare you, but it is always a good idea to do a VIN check just to ensure you are looking at an authentic Roush. You can check that here: How to Spot an "Authentic" ROUSH&#174 Vehicle - ROUSH Performance Press Release

Since you've had black cars before, you know the trials of maintaining the color - beautiful but finicky!! There are many on here with black Roushes that can point you to specific products. You can also check in with Justin at Obsessive Detail for black-paint specific recommendations. Justin is fantastic to work with and his products are top notch. His details are listed in the Forum Sponsor section of the main forum page: Sponsor Forum

Hope that helps, and keep the questions coming!

It's not uncommon for Roush to address the front bakes and leave the rears stock.

also, If I'm not mistaken, Justin goes by "Justang" on this site, send him a p.m. and he can hook you up with some great products specifically for black.

PLEASE, make sure the car is a REAL S3. Many dealerships misrepresent Roush cars.

The back brakes on all Roush cars are stock Ford.

Congrats on the purchase, and ENJOY!

Welcome- Now go check the VIN at ROUSH Performance Products You will find a link near the lower right area of the main page - BEFORE you buy!
As for black, that is my color of choice for most everything I own (red is my alternative if black is not available). I am sold on Meguiars NXT and Ducora Topcoat (for detailing in between waxing).
