Big Issues

Ok, I am having a panic attack here. I took my Roush to a performance shop in NY 3 hours from where I live because they are a good shop and can do anything compared to what I have where I live. So I take my Roush that I have not touched for this reason and finally have some stuff done to it and a custom tune for the parts. I went 4.11 gears, pulley, steeda intake, long tube headers, and corsa cat back. I get a call the car is done but they cannot tune it. Said the computer is locked from Roush and he cannot get access. So the car is not tuned and running high 12 air to fuel and running lean. What do I do???? What is everyone else doing?? What can I get? Please help?? I"m stressing. This is why I took it to a performance shop cuz they should have known this. AAAAAHHHHH

If you have an SCT programmer call me up ill send a tune for you asap. We have a tune for exactly that combination on file. I just need your PCM code and we can make it for you. It sounds like they may be using a different software however, because ive yet to meet an SCT tuner who cant access the Roush PCM.

Listen to Jim.....and all those probs with go away. That shop of yours should have known before they even started working on your car .

Where did you go? Turbo People in Hastings on Hudson is a great place to take it.

No, I don't. I have one for my wife's v6 fusion that made a WORLD of difference and steeda intake. WOW. Serious wakeup. I have diablo for my Challenger and I was just using Roush tune for car then was going to have it custom tuned by the shop. I did not know the computer was locked but again I'm not into custom tuning as I would not know that. The only mod I did before this was the smaller pulley and tune from Roush. I guess the car was lean and is lean right now and the guy did a base dyno pull and couldn't beleive that Roush would tune it that way. Actually, I"m upset by the numbers. I am running hi 12 a/f ratio and it falls off hard after 5500 rpm. The numbers were 362 hp and 365 tq!!!!!!!!! SAy what??? I hope that is wrong or Roush gave me a crappy tune cuz that is not cool. I left the car at the shop for the mods so I didn't ask if that was before mods or after all other mods. If so, that is very weak and I have lemon or something. J/K. Anyways the car sounds amazing with the new exhaust and 4.11 gears. So let me get this straight, you have a program for my car running a steeda intake, smaller pulley 2.57 I think....sorry, long tube headers running x pipe with hi flo cats, corsa cat back and 4.11 gears to correct my speedo?? Can I get the tuner from you and just buy the whole thing already? What is my best option? I appreciate the response and help. Thank you.

Well the numbers do seem a little low but its more important how they compared before and after. Different dynos can give different readings but id expect you to be over 400 RWHP on ours. The parts you have on the car we have tuned to in house one vehicles already and can send you a file built to your specs because of that. We can dial in the speedo with gear/tire sizes and it will read perfectly. Ill contact you tommorow if i dont hear from you first, im glad to help out! Since your in NY maybe its even a good idea to make a day trip down to us for a dyno session!

I think this is your best bet ...let the experts take care of this right the first go around! Don't mess around trying to do it yourself...anything unexpected or out of the ordinary & you will be stuck again...drive on down & get 'er done!

Yes I saw P51A. Sorry, didn't mean to ignore it. I live just North of Syracuse and I found a shop in Rochester NY that is not a specialized Ford shop but I needed something close to home. They do it all. So I am surprised and let down by the fact they couldn't tune the car but hey things happen and I don't want to give a bad rep for it....yet. J/K. I'm going to try the tuner from JDM first and this will be easiest for me. But in time when I go to add some more internal work and cams or maybe a step up in blower or whatever, I will be sure to take it a little further away to a specialized ford only shop. Thanks for the help and responses everyone.

Okay, just got off the phone with Jim at JDM. He took all my info and told me he would have custom tune for fix my speedo issue and of course running lean. He said he will make the program today, throw it on an SCT and mail it out so I should have it within 2-3 days. I can't wait and I feel relieved and it feels nice having a sense of connections to just write a msg and having someone offer to help from other areas without question. I appreciate anyones opinions that I ask on here about parts and what have you. Thats why I look to poeple with experience or been there been through it knowledge. Thanks alot and to JDM. Can't wait to get the tuner.

That is awesome news Bill!

Glad to hear a bit of relief in your post. The FnFamily is such a great support group, there are so many helpful and knowledgeable people on here.

Definitely keep us posted on the progress. Your Roush will be a BEAST when you get the right tune going - WOW!

The tuner I used uses the Diablo tuner. They took my car to Ford and had the computer reflashed as a standard GT. This unlocks the computer and the tuner can load tunes from there. The SCT Tuner should work over the Roush Tune.

if the tuner is good, you should get them to tune it for you before getting a canned tune.

I took my car to a dedicated Ford and Chevrolet Tuner and he had problems tuning my car. Unless your tuner has dealt with a Roush before, they are more than likely not going to know that the tune is locked. Roush is the only one that does it with Ford. I had a saleen computer put in mine since i run 2 tunes for the motor and spray and Roush had to be retarded and break my chip port off.

Hey I have a friend somewhere in Rochester, NY...he is very big into tractor pulls...lives somewhere out on a farm up there...very unique name, maybe you know him? Bill Smith. I have lost his contact info so help me out! LOL...

I used to tease him about his name by asking if he was in the witness protection program or something. That guy is a genius with a welder & mechanical things, best I ever saw...started his nephew driving tractors at 5 years old! The kid won even!
