The standard 555s are great tires and would be a fine choice for the fronts. The 555 DRs are a great street tire for being a DR but there are better choices for DRs if you are hitting the track very often. The Mickey Thompson and BFG DRs are both good tires at the strip (for DRs). I got about 17k miles out of my last 555 DRs and I was beating the mortal snot out of them.

Be careful with this decision. The Nittos are the ONLY drag radial I would use if I ever wanted to drive my car on the street with the possibilty of driving in the rain. And then still be careful. The M.T.'s are good for about 20 mph on any wet surface. I have had too many close calls with drag radials that I found it just not worth it anynore. Do your self a favor, buy a 2nd set of rear rims with a D/R or slick and throw em on at the track.

DON"T put them on all 4 rims!!! They have a softer sidewall than a regular street tire, so unless you want your car to handle poorly...
The 555R's are pretty good in the rain, but you still need to be paying attention with them. If you are looking for a good street tire, then they'll work well, but if you want a good track tire, get a second set of rear rims and slap some ET Streets on them.

The Nitto 555R is a good tire for the street. They are not going to handle like a full fledged street tire, but they are way better than any other dr on daily driven aspect. I have a seperate set of wheels and tires that i put on at the track.

I recently bought the Roush Bogarts from JDM, I really like how they look and with the Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials I doubt ill have any problems at the track. The 15" tires are far cheaper to buy every other summer ($160-$170 a piece) vs the 18's that run between $200-$300 a piece depending on which ones you buy EVERY summer if your using them for both street and track use.

Thanks for all the replies. I am thinking my best move at this point would be to just buy a set of tires to swap on the rear for the track, and run what I currently have at all other times til its time for some new ones.
Here is the only pic I have of my car, still from the dealers listing on ebay before I snagged it haha. I will get some pics of my own up soon. ![]() I have been doing some research this evening and have found my local strip requires a driveshaft loop for anyone running under 13.99 - is this typical? Looks like Steeda makes a good one. Regardless, looking forward to getting to know you all. Thanks again. |

My local track actually does require the driveshaft loop so I gotta get on that. Later for now. |

I lived w/ a Nitto Combo on my 360R for a while. I had 555's up front and DR2's in the rear. The 2 has a stronger sidewall than the Dr's so you don't sacrafice as much handling. If you intend to run the tires all the time and for everyday use, go w/ the 555's up front and the DR2's in the rear.
