Supercharger whine

I just had a set of BBk catted x-pipes installed on my 428. Now, I don't know if it's just in my head or the louder exhaust tone drowns out the whine, but it feels like I need to get into it more than before to get the supercharger to whine. Anyone esle experience this before. The car does feel quicker when I'm cruising a drop it a gear and hit it.

Sounds like you need to get rid of that stock air box and get the bbr kit. It wil be loud as HELL after that.

I just had my Roush done with 4.10, steeda cold air intake, 2.57 pulley, american racing long tubes hi flo x pipe and corsa cat backs. When I left all I heard was exhaust and thought somehow they turned off the supercharger. I'm serious I couldn't hear it wind or nothing. I heard it today finally with the windows up but yea for sure I barely hear it now. I know what you mean. I kind of miss hearing it whistle. But my buddy was on the road as I drove by and he told me that my s/c really screams now so must be it is louder I just can't hear it.

BBR upgrade

I'm thinking of getting the BBR upgrade, but I don't want the s/c to be TOO loud. I really only want it to be loud during hard acceleration, not normal driving.

Don't get me wrong, the whistle is music to my ears. I just don't want to hear it at all during idle or much during slow acceleration.

Maybe I should just get the CAI (I already have the smaller Roush pulley)?

I have a stock exhuast.

Well I must be mistaken because I could have sworn the Roush pulley someone told me as that aftermarket upgrade was 73 or 2.57. So I take it I do not have a 2.57 pulley as I told Jim from JDM for my custom tune that now isn't going to work for my car? If so I need a 2.57 and who should I get one from?? All I have done is Steeda intake, long tubes, x-pipe, catback and 4.11 and the Roush aftermarket and soon to be SCT custom tune. Does anyone else recommend something like those plug wires from BBR or heat exchanger or what? Please help. Thanks.

The whine in the P51 is basically non-existant. My 360R's whine was insane, especially since it put the CAI on it. I was so loud that my friend from in front or behind me in his 427R would here it! I actually prefer not to hear it, it sounds more like an old school muscle car.

A pulley and air kit with custom tune would really make that Roushcharger sing! With the exhaust it definatley will tone down or drown out the blower noise some. It wont be too overly loud, but honestly the way that blower sounds is killer when its turning some serious RPM. Ever listen to one with a 2.57 upper and 12% overdrive lower @ 13 psi boost!

I'm running 16 psi on the TVS with the standard Roush exhaust. As we all know, the standard exhaust setup is rather quiet. There's a whistle sound at low rpms and a big fat whine when on the gas. I love it, but I know a louder exhaust will drown it out from the cockpit (ha, it's like flying ya know). So, my advice is; if you want to hear more of the blower, keep the exhaust loudness to a modest level.

The 2.57" pulley is available through Blow-by-racing, I believe JDM sells one also. You may also be interested in one of my custom aluminum 2.57" pulleys.

JimIII,

I'm not sure where the figure of 13psi came from. You would be extremely lucky to make 7 pounds of boost with the 2.57" pulley. Now add a 12% overdrive to that and that would bring you up to 7.84 pounds. That's a far cry from 13 psi.

With the Steeda CAI, you don't hear the supercharger until you are really gettin' after it. For normal driving, you would never notice any difference in sound. It is noticably louder at wide open throttle. The stock airbox acts as a muffler for the air intake/supercharger. You would be very happy if you decided to add this mod.

Granted, maybey not 13 p.s.i. but I made 7.51 with the 2.57 and with the 10% overdrive I made 10.1 don't now about the 12% though.
