Keeping this on the OP's question. I am not even sure that swapping PCM's would keep you in warranty. If the PCM can track flashes and dates, it wouldn't surprise me it can keep track of key or ignition cycles. In other words, you show up with a car showing 20,000 miles and the PCM shows, say, 50 ignition cycles on it, I am thinking Ford would have some questions.
Again, not sure about the Ford PCM's. I do know the Dodge truck computers track the cycles as a way of seeing if the computer has been modified. Just a thought. I would not be surprised if Ford can determine a PCM has just been put in a car.

I had my car tuned with x cal 3 and dyno.Dont think they did a great job ,car did not run smooth. Then a month later i could not get car to start.Had it towed to ford they said the pcm was completely blank/fried.They tryed to reflash it but a fuse in the pcm kept blowing. They gave me a new pcm it was coverd under warranty. They never mentioned the fact that i changed the tune. The only thing I had to pay was 50 bucs so roush could reflash it.Now I am afraid to mess with the computer again.
