Can't stop the madness - Need your advice!

I have the Roushcharger but am looking for even more out of my Roush. I have done 4.10's and the smaller Roush pulley and dyno'd at 389 rwhp.

I only drive in the summer and have never gone to a track or drag raced ever but want to increase my rwhp mainly for increased seat of the pants fun.

I'm looking at my options and need your opinions as I'm not sure of how extreme I should go. I've looked at the smaller pulley, tune and CAI with plugs that should be good to get to around 400 rwhp I think for about $1,000.00. I think this would be fun, but I'm not sure if I'd be totally satisfied.

The next jump is to add in addition to the above a 12%underdrive pulley, Kooks Lt's a new heat exchanger with the above mods. This is about nearly $4,000.00 plus install. Is this too much for just street use? If I'm trying to keep my car for 15-20 years is this too much on the motor for longevity? Do only people who drag race do these types of modifications or would a regular guy who just enjoys muscle cars get his money worth?

I'm also in love with the sound clips of the FRPP Hot Rod Cams and want that "old school" thump.

I have to stop somewhere .... with the $$ , but want a streetable monster that is a handful, but still not psychotic and only meant for the dragstrip.

I need your help.. The winters are long in Minnesota and it get's put away in a couple weeks and I have too long to torture myself deciding on what to do over the winter but I need all of your advice.........

Thanks !!!!

Forget about the 12% pulley that is a waste and will overspin the Charger and create to omuch heat.

The CAI, Tune, 2.57 pulley (and Idler), and the Long Tubes are all good mods. These should all be safe, based on tune, and should make decent power without hurting the car. You could see up to 420RWhp with this. The LT will cost you more to install then buy. It is a time consuming task to get them in, but back it up with an H pipe (with cats). The X-pipes give off a lot off a raspier sound and the H pipe has more of a muscle car sound.

Lot's of people have had good luck with the FRPP hot cams. do a search for some specifics on it here. I have these on my list to do.

That's the advice i'm looking for. I appreciate the quick response and am 100% on-board with your feedback. I really do like the H Pipe idea as I really prefer the lower rumble and would be dissappointed with the raspy noise.

Will the LT's with catted H make it a lot louder? I've heard people can't hear their sc whine over the LT's ??? Not sure if I want to blast out the neighborhood. What are your thoughts?

Would you also upgrade the heat exchanger for performance and overall longevity??? Is it even necessary for this hp range?

I just had my car dyno-tuned 2 weeks ago and all I have is my own 2.57" pulley that I make, Steeda CAI, and a SCT tuner. I made 420.6 rwhp.
You have a nice list there of the most popular mods. Good luck with your decisions. I agree with 06Roush_st_3, in that I would personally stay away from the overdrive crank pulley. I too feel it overspins our tiny blowers and does nothing more than create a lot of unwanted extra heat, and a lot more wear and tear on the blower. I know some on here will disagree, but that is my opinion.
It seems like those cams are the mod of the month. There has been a lot of interested parties on this forum. I also plan to install those this winter.

I'm not an expert on the new gen cars, but with my car i saw the greatest gains with the upper pulley. A CAI is not going to pick up any real noticable power increase. Your better off spending it on something else. I'm making over 500 at the tires with a stock cai setup. The cams will give your car a completlly different feel good mod. The LTs and an H Pipe are a must for opening the car up. I would do the non catted H pipe or X pipe unless you have emission laws where you live.

I'm also interested in hearing from "Regular Joes" who just love to go fast, do burnouts, drift around an occassional corner before coming home to the neighborhood and then slowly drive it into the garage before going in to the house to see "June Cleaver" and grab a cold one while I take my suit off for the day. I probably will never to to a drag race (at a track), and just want total goof-off power on demand. That's what I'm really asking for here and from what I gather I'm not in the minority on this site. Come on Muscle Car Guys -- Give me your feedback..................

Yeah, I've heard about the TVS........................

Not to be a complete SmartA, what I'm looking for is information on the mods I've listed. I've heard and seen many posts from guys with these mods and I'm looking for feedback and input to see if that is the way to go, or maybe.. go with a TVS and call it a day.

I'm interested if a dual fuel pump is necessary or recommended, or if a heat exchanger upgrade is necessary or recommended etc.

I think if you are looking for seat of the pants fun then going with what you have plus a CAI, a tune, and cams would pretty much round you out. LT headers really arent huge for hp gains. Even going to the 2.57 pulley would be a good mod with the tune. If you arent going to be looking for extremes then I wouldnt worry about the TVS. If you keep with your origional idea, you shouldnt have a need to upgrade the fuel system. Its not a bad mod to do as I have it on my list here soon but if you arent running around 500hp at the crank, you should be ok with the stock. JMO
