Fender Badges
I just bought a Roush Body kit for my mustang, and wanted to get a set of fender badges to complete the look. The problem is I have the Pony Packages on in place right now, and there big as hell. What worries me is that after I remove them the Roush Badges won't be able to cover the faded paint area.
How large are the Roush badges, are they large enought to compensate for the height of the old badges? Has anyone tried this before? Thanks! ![]() |

Thank you. Im not trying to step on anyones toes and be a poser ricer, with a big roush window decal for everyone to see.
I just think the badges looks alot cleaner, and the brand matches whats on the rest of my car. Is bug and tar remover safe for the paint? Any reccomendations on a brand? Also what about the metal tab that goes into the holes in the fender, would they cause a problem? |

I am not sure the brand is a big issue on the BT remover. And it is made for car paint so it should be safe.
I honestly dont know if a tab exists on the 2005+ cars, but ROUSH performs this same operation when they do conversions so it should cover just fine. I dont know how old your car is, but you should not have much of a paint fade problem. You might use some light rubbing or polishing compound on the area if you do have some paint weathering or aged in dirt and that should take care of it. |

....Is bug and tar remover safe for the paint? Any reccomendations on a brand? quote] Sorry, I missed this on my welcome post. Justin with Obsessive Detail (a site sponsor here) has a great product called Bug Blaster. I am not sure if it works on tar too, but you may want to send him a PM. His screen name on here is Juztang. His products are awesome!! He also might have some advice for getting the paint in good shape around the new/old badges. Hope that helps, Kandy

Welcome to the site....and yes....PLEASE post some pics of your beauty.
I also agree with using the bug & tar remover and dental floss. With the dental floss, heat the badges up a little with a blow dryer to loosen the adhesive so the dental floss moves behind the badges and removes them easier. I did this on our F150 to remove dealer marking badges and it turned out nice. GOOD luck on getting the look you want out of your girl. ![]()

Badges???? You dont need no stinkin badges... Good choice on the body kit, you will love the attention it gets. I shall bite my tongue on the badge thing this time since this subject has been beaten to death in the past. He does make a good point in the fact that he does have alot of Roush to the car now though...

Welcome to the site. I believe that the Pony badges are bigger than the Roush ones, but it shouldn't be a big deal if you're careful and polish the surface first.
Is your car a V6? The reason I ask is because you said you have the pony package. I can tell you personally that the Roush Cold Air Intake for the V6 cars really does make a difference. Can't wait to see photos. |

@ Pastor J- Yepp sadly my stangs a V6, It was a choice between a 08 V6 or a 01 Honda Civic. I am getting the CIA this week in fact, Is that difference you see on a tuned V6?
@ Iflyagfour- I also want the badges to make the car more like the official V6 Roush. I just bought the car in Sept, and If I had know when or that they had one, I would of purchased that instead |

IIRC, V6's don't get the badges (maybe the 05+ did and I just don't remember)? I mention that as far as making it look "official"...

The V6 is a great motor in supercharged trim you can get 300-400HP easily depending on tune and setup let alone the fantastic racing history that the engine has so enjoy your car. Hopefully I'll get some body parts for mine soon!

I agree. I own a 66 k-code kar and always cringe when I see a 289 high performance emblem on an A, C, or even
Clone away but leave off the badges...
