Sorry to tell you but just cause it says 40 hp on the box doesn't mean your going to get that much. I really didn't start picking up any significant hp with different pulley, exhaust, and TB. I saw my biggest gain with the cams. The 386 stock number is at the flywheel also.

Well in my opinion you really have a good platform to build off of. You can go directly with a bigger blower and built bottem end.

435 at the crank is more like 370 at the rear wheels. Per the kenne Bell website, the driveline loss on a Mustang with manual trans is about 15%.

The lowest driveline loss you'll EVER see on ANY V8 equipped manual trans car is 12%. Automatics run 22 to 25% loss.

The horsepower gains you see quoted in the aftermarket parts ads usually quote the MOST gain you'll ever see - IF your specific car, like the one the aftermarket supplier deliberately used for his testing - has enough OTHER mods already in place to make the specific part he sells the solution to the "cork" created by the weakest airflowing factory component.

On current Mustangs, the factory exhaust headers and factory exhaust piping and mufflers are NOT "corks" - they are good to about 650 crank hp before they start to significantly limit power output. On a Mustang with Roush supercharger and CAI, a freer flowing exhaust makes only a few horsepower difference.

As many on this board have said many times, speed and power are addictive - just like alcohol, drugs, and sex . Some unscrupulous aftermarket suppliers take advantage of buyers by "telling them what they want to hear" even when they KNOW their product is going to do much less for the buyer's SPECIFIC car than the buyer wants to think. Fortunately, Roush is NOT one of those kinds of suppliers - their claims appear, after actual personal testing on dyno runs, to be if anything a bit conservative. That's a very good reason to prefer Roush when there is a choice of aftermarket solutions.

There are a handful of us younger guys on here. I think it is crazy when I go to some of these Roush meets that some of the guys will come up and look at the car and ask where my dad is at so they can talk about it. I just smile and say he is standing here. Their mouths hit the floor when they see the dyno sheets of my car also.

Yes, exactly my point. 435 at the crank = 370 at the rear wheels with a manual, before any mods.
