    427R Spark Plug Question??

OK Guys - Pretty warm day today in Kentucky. Thought I would pull the plugs to check gap and apply anti-sieze.

I could not get any spark plug socket to work. I have a standard small size 5/8" type. Of course, old style larger would not even go into head.

I also have a complete set of SAE standard deep well and Metric deep well.
Nothing would work to grab hold of plug. I tried all sockets which would fit into head at least 3 times. Nothing in manual said anything about needing special socket.

Tell me what I need. Thanks.

    14mm and 9/16ths are virtually identical. 9/16ths = 14.2 mm

    plugs

Yes 14mm and 9/16" are almost the same but the 14mm socket will not fit the brisk plug it will only go in with the 9/16" on the other side the 9/16" is too sloppy on the oem plug. As for the performance of the brisk i don't know yet due to the weather,i like them over the oem due to the one pc design, wont have the two pc breaking issue like so many of us are having.

Elanore, do they make an actual 14mm spark plug socket? I know my Snap-On dealer buddy said the socket they sell for the 4.6 engine is a 9/16ths. At least that's what he told me. I think he said it was something like $30.00 (YIKES!!) That's why I bought mine at Sears.

Don't know if they make a 14mm spark plug socket or not, i just use a deep well 14mm socket. Just put a little tape on the inside so the plug can't fall out while installing.
