what do you think our stock blocks can handle?

just as the title says. what is the highest 3V you have seen with the stock block?!? do you think 600 RWHP is safe? do you think 650 RWHP is safe? do you think 700 RWHP is safe?

I'm no expert, but popular opinion seems to be 500RWHP, with a good tune. Any more than that and it seems it's just a matter of time!

With a bad tune, not even 400RWHP is safe!

I am talking the block itself, not the stock rotating assembly in said block.

I think the blocks are pretty stong, like 900...Like said before its usually the stock rotating assembly poking holes through them that kills them.

I have read that the 3v aluminum block is very strong, but you have to wonder why Ford went with a cast iron block for the GT500.

I'd say no more then 700 hp. The temps is what i worry about. On the Trak pak with the TVS after 10 mins running hard 250 Head temps. all the boost just gets the motor hot, after so long i'm sure cracks will develop

When you get over 500 HP, you tend to twist the aluminum blocks. Cobras have iron blocks as well. Same thing with the LS1/LS2 GM blocks. Thats why they developed the LSX block. A lot of guys use the LS3 truck block as well.

I thought I read many years ago that the 3V block was pretty strong could handle about 700~800 horses, just the rotating assembly was bad.

So in the Cobra (GT500) for cost and strenght they went with steal. Alum. was 'moving' too much.

The blocks are fine up to ~800 rwhp. The rods are the weakest part of the puzzle. The stock crank is good up to ~700 rwhp.

I believe all 4.6 are steal sleeved. Don't hold me too that, but pretty sure!

just doing some cost analysis at this point. a lot depends on what the 2011 5.0 has for guts. if it don't come forged, the motor in mine now, may just end up on an engine stand

If your talking about the Alum. Block Coyote engine, do not think it would have a forged bottom end at only 400 H.P.
No need for it at those numbers.
