    Supercharger Whine Question

Hey guys I own a Speedster, and my supercharger just isnt as high pitched and loud as the ones from all the youtube videos i watch...no matter how hard i punch the gas it just doesnt replicate that, not sure if its because its an automatic or what (still hit 6250 rpm when shifts). any input helps, thanks!

Well the first thing you want to do if you like the whine and want it to be louder is put an open element filter on it (Cold-Air-Intake).

That one mod is what most of the louder cars you hear have.

If you have already one on your car, then that is about as loud as it will get.

If you install a smaller blower pulley and a cold air intake as Shay suggested, your blower whine will turn into more of an "air-raid" siren. The difference in sound is unbelieveable. The stock airbox is insulated and baffled to reduce air intake noise. Uncork that bad-boy and it will put a smile on your face for sure.

So adding an open-element air intake will solve the problem? what brand is the best quality and most consistant? also what does a smaller blower pulley do? sorry i'm not exactly the car expert

The most common cold air intake for our cars is the Steeda unit. A smaller pulley on the blower will cause the blower to spin faster at any given engine rpm which will make a lot more power. Putting a smaller pulley on the blower will void the engine warranty from Roush as the PCM will need a reflash ( custon tune ) to adjust for the added airflow.

Roush also makes a cold air intake, but they too will void your engine warranty with their offering.

I don't think the air flow will change enough by just adding the Steeda CAI to require a re-tune, meaning, it would not void your warranty. The PCM has enough flexibilty to recalibrate itself for the higher MAF readings introduced by the cai.

    Blower Whine

Gimme more blower whine! I too am wanting to hear my blower scream! Instead of using a smaller pulley and tune has anyone gone with the Abaco DBX mass air meter/sensor and maybe a Steeda CAI? I don't think you have to reflash the PCM as its all done with the DBX software. Are the power gains with the DBX worth it or should I go with the smaller pulley and CAI to get the hosepower increase and blower whine?

    Yes, absolutely.

The PCM actually cannot adjust for changes in MAF sensor housing size. If the housing is larger it will create a lean condition. If the housing is smaller it will create a rich condition. The 3Vs are not a motor that you can add a cold air intake without a tune. If it uses the same size MAF housing than sure it doesn't matter but MAF transfer functions create issues once the size changes.

Depends on the shop you go to and if you need to chip it. Average for just a tune is $400-$500....

I also believe a tune will void your warranty.

Ok guys so let me get this straight....to increase my blower whine noise I should buy a steeda CAI for $200 but adding that I will have to get it tuned for $500 and after spending all that my warranty will be voided?

Anything that you do to your car will void the warranty...unless your Ford dealer is cool and knowledgeable about mods...

Instead of getting everything separate, just get the VMP 500HP kit. It includes everything you need; CIA, pulleys, tuner, and tune. You'll have the power and whine to put smiles on every mile...

Definitely worth every penny...plus your car will drive so much better and smoother than the Roush tune.

    VMP your best bet

Do look at VMP web site. Justin at VMP can really set you up very well, if you want to do some mods. I have the VMP 500HP package and it really ROCKS!
