    Blower grind cams?

Ok, for some reason I have been violating my self imposed rule of minimal bolt-ons, and I have been looking at cams. I see that Carmen and others have installed the FRPP Hot Rod cams and has nice gains on the dyno. But I was wondering what other "Blower" cams are available, and has anyone run them? I know that BBR, Brenspeed and others have their own cams. And that Comp also offers "blower" cams. So what's the straight poop on them? How do they compare to the FRPP cam?

I think you will get more power from a cam specifically designed for a blown application. The FRPP Hot Rod's are not specifically designed for forced induction, but they still add power and sound great at idle. The sound was the reason I installed them.

I've been eye balling Comp's Stage 3 cams along with a custom set of heads.

I have been wondering the same thing. As of now I'm leaning more towards the comp cams because as others have said, they are specifically for supercharged applications. Also thinking of going with a pair of Livernois Motorsports’ stage 3 Three-Valve cylinder heads.

Anybody running on Comp Blower Cams here? Possibly have a dyno sheet you can display?

Brenspeed is coming out with their own line of rough idle cams. "Detroit Rockers". They claim good power gains, stock springs, no phase limiters needed and like stock drive-ability. The N/A cams are supposed to be out beginning of April with blower grinds out shortly after.

I would wait a few months to see how these are preforming in the real world before making my decision.

Cool! What also caught my eye was this 302 for $3299 they will be offering soon. Sounds pretty tempting hahah.

The BBR stage 2 cams are geared specifically towards forced induction. However, they will require a valve spring upgrade.

Our Stage 1 cams have been proven to pick up 40 rwhp on a forced induction application and these grinds do not require a valve spring upgrade.

Did you do a before and after dyno? What other modes do you have?

Could you send me a video of the car and maybe some pictures to post up on our web page?

Sure. Let me track down some pictures. I do have the video out on youtube with the title BBR stage II cams under MSWIFT 5. I would post the link but am at work right now and they don't allow access to stuff like that. You can use that video if you like. It says the mods i have on there. Long tube headers, high flow cats, 60lb injectors, 2.57 pulley, gt 500 throttle body, kb boost a pump, 4:10 gears. I have since added the roush front facia also. I did a before and after dyno and i gained 40 RWHP, but that was with the cams and headers.

Question for ya - does it almost stall out every time you rev it? I'm interested in cams and long tubes.....but honestly am afraid of the car being too loud. It's loud as it is now (Roush Extreme Exhaust)...but sounds good. I don't want to kill that....and end up in the obnoxious territory. Neighbors have told me they can here me for about a mile or so after I leave the development. If they can hear me, so can the PoPo. Mind you I don't run it hard around the neighborhood. Only time I really get on it is on highways....just don't want the cops to hear me coming miles before I see them....

I don't think adding cams will make it any louder. It never has stalled out after reving it. When i was pulling in i didn't give it enough gas and almost stalled it. That's the big thing. You have to give it more gas than normal to get moving. Once you adjust to it, it's no big deal. That's why i went with 4:10's also to help get the rpm's up quicker.

Ah ok. It almost sounded like you revved it, and then when you let off the gas, it almost stalled out. I know people who don't take care of their vehicles - and their cars do this, bone stock.

To get the RPM'S up quicker - why not look into a lightweight flywheel, and aluminum drive shaft (if you don't already have those things)? I've heard they will help out quite a bit in terms of climbing through RPM'S....

I actually have a carbon fiber driveline on it. Thought about the aluminum flywheel, but undecided about it. I will be uprgrading to the TVS and forging the block and kinda like the idea of a steel flywheel. I don't drag race but once a year, and it is a daily driver.
