    Those with TrakPak/Sparco hood pins...

How are the skinny part of the pins aligned pointing to the front? Do they point straight with the stripes or with the hood ridge? Installing them now and need to know.

    Thanks,
    Nick

Yes it does, looks like you measured from the stripe. Thanks!

Next question. Because of the double wall on the hood if you really tighten the screws down it distorts the hood slightly. What did everyone else do to prevent it?

    I used pop rivets.

gtncpa, how did you get the bottom rivet? Matbe I have the wrong gun cause the head won't fit between the edges. BTW, I had forgot about this but like the idea, thanks!

I spent a whole day checking to make sure before drilling, sans stripes it was hard but they look great now. I measured using a straight edge on the hood/fender gap, noting that the hood LINES curve inward, so they wont work. You have to measure on the edges, not the sheetmetal cosmetic bends. See my thread on the sparco pins for a photo.

I installed mine differently since I did not want the pins close to the hood latch...seemed redundant... So I placed mine wider apart. I also riveted mine...the screws would loosen up over time.

You put yours where I put mine. It is one of my most functional mods. I was at Watkins Glen last week and I forgot to clip one (shame on me) I noticed imediatley and pitted and fixed it.

Awesome!! I didn't like the idea of the pins centered so close to the hood latch...since thats a latching point anyway...
During my high speed trials, I noticed the corners of the hood fluttered...so I figured that was the best place to put them... One on each corner, plus the hood latch holds the center...

Ford Racing puts four hood pins on!!! Where we placed ours and another set like the Trak-Pak... LOL
But in all fairness, the Ford Racing cars have no hood latch... lol

Its been a long time since I've gotten these pins put on, but I surely do remember the horror of a unpinned hood on these cars... OMG!!!!
You think the damned thing is going to break loose and crash into the windshield....especially when drafting a Corvette at 140 MPH!!! lol Ask me how I know... LOL

I touched up the drilled hole/exposed metal... I also coated the bottom of the pin set that attaches to the hood with sealant/RTV. So no water sits in between the hood and hood pin...

please! I can't stand it..... if I did do it, it would for looks... I doubt I will ever be traveling in velocities where my hood would pop.... I have yet to see my hood shake at all at 100 I would know my gopro usually sits on hood!!

I used yellow touch-up paint from the body shop that did work recently to cover the bare aluminum after drilling.
