    JLT Oil seperator installed

    Just got the JLT Oil seperator the other day from American Muscle and finally had time to putvit on. Took only 15 minutes to install. Looks like it belongs there. My only concern is it lays against the valve cover, wonder if there's any chance of it wearing a hole in the valve cover over time?

    I have the same JLT oil separator..but in satin for my 2010...it goes on the driver's side, but is no where near the valve covers. You could always put some tape, or other protective material on the bottom-side of the JLT..so at least it doesn't rub directly on the valve covers. You see those drilled and tapped holes in the top of the JLT. ( they look like a 8-32 machine screw size). Some folks will use those to mount the JLT to an aluminum plate, which in turn is mounted to the fender well, or something else, like the side-top of where a stb would go.

    You could always re-do both lines, make em longer..and get the JLT over to one side more. If you can get the JLT a little higher at the same time, then it will collect a little less oil. ( it will flow back down into the valve cover).

    But it ultimately has to be positioned, such that you can get your hand in there to unscrew the lower portion....to empty the oil. You will gag when you see what comes out of there.

    I mounted mine to that large tab that's sticking out of the strut mount. You can see it in your picture. I guess the plastic tube can support the weight of the can, but I'd be more comfortable if it was mounted on something solid.

    Which one did you order? Been to A/M and JLT web sites, don't see a listing for Roush. My installation looks exactly like yours. I guess I could call them.

    I ordered the one for the 05-09 GT that mounts on the drivers side.

    I can't see the picture but this is a clip right from the faq on the 05-09 Roush section of the JLT website;

    "Will this fit my 94 GT with a turbo? You can make it fit anything. Get the base kit and then you can build it to fit with fittings and hose from any autoparts store.

    Will this fit my 05-up GT with a Roush, Vortech, Whipple, Ect Supercharger on it? If you have the stock PCV line still in use, then most likely yes, but most aftermarket blowers do not use the stock line and will need to be custom set up. Get the base kit and plumb it in yourself, it's easy!"

    I think wherever you saw that it was not for supercharged applications meant that the JLT unit is not plug and play for our cars because you can't use the supplied hoses to just plug it in. You have to supply your own hoses and clamps. All I did was splice it into the existing hose. Later I will probably take Jimbo's advice and get some crankcase hose to move it to the fenderwell.

    I liked that one also but I have no chrome on my engine so I went with the JLT since it came in black. Looks good in your engine bay, nice install.

    On the 05-10 cars they depict for driver's side only. On the 11-13 cars, they offer em for both sides. I noticed earlier on tonight that Brenspeed installs em on BOTH sides on 05-10 cars. It appears they take a standard JLT oil separator, and added a piece of flat AL plate to the top of it ( via the 2 x machined threads on the top lid of all JLT oil separator's)....and bolted the plate-tab to the pass side of the eng bay, on that tab that sticks inboard on the pass side shock tower. Dunno how much it will collect on the pass side, but it may well be worth it. http://www.brenspeed.com/jltosp-gt05.html

    I like my oil separator. It has a shut off valve on the bottom & then I have a hose running from that to the bottom of my car. Now I just dump my junk where ever im at, lol

    I have the JLT installed. I would get the Haney Motorsports like DiMora. I was going to but they were backorded way back then. I'm still getting oil past the separator to the intake.

    If you are still getting oil past the separator, then perhaps Brenspeed is correct, and a 2nd one is required....... on the pass side.

    The way you can tell if you are getting oil from the passenger side is if you see oil before the throttle body...oil in the air tube.
