    My Color dash lights

Do the Roushes have the my color changeable dash lights built in, where all we have to do is add a switch or something, or are separate dash lights and wiring required? I think that system is kind of neat, but with the Roush gauges they might have eliminated the lights when they replaced the gauges.

I'm almost certain the Ford.. "my colour" didn't show up till 2010. You can mix the 3 primary colour's and make any colour you want. There is my colour 1-2-3 too...so one can pre-set up to 3 of em.... and that's on top of the myriad of standard colours, Then repeat again for the ambient lighting..which includes the door sills.

My 2007 has My Color...so it was available at least as early as 2007.

I do not have My Color in my 07 but... it's in the manual so it was probably an option.

ROUSH cars did not come with my color since that was available with the premium models. ROUSH only built off the base models...at least for 05-09 model years.

That's what I was thinking. So I guess it's a no go on the my color dash lights. A frivolity anyway.

My Color is on my wife's 2006. I believe that 2007s and below automatically had all of the wiring for all coloring options for Mustangs, so you don't need any additional wiring harnesses to hook up: a My Color Cluster, ambient lighting in the cupholder / footwells, and the illuminated kickpanels.

Actually, we have modified the original My color in such a way as to emulate a 2010+ RS3 cluster. The project turned out quite well.

Click on the 2nd image to see a brief video.

I hammered out the details with a designer for about two months. We had to make modifications as we went along due to the differences in how light is emitted from the LEDs of the 05-09 My Color, since the original design inspiration was that of 2010+ clusters. The RS3 emblem has a shimmer to it, and the display reads in blue versus the standard green. All of the My Color, indicator lights, screen displays, and other functions work as they should.

An interesting thing about the 05-09 cluster is what Ford originally included an "Idiot Light" in the cluster for shifting, but never made use of it. If you look where the new RS3 emblem is on our designed cluster thats where it is located, so with a little programming we have it illuminate at whatever my wife sets it to much like those found in the GT500/SVT clusters.

We have spares if anyone is interested in dumping that Timex Indiglo wannabe cluster in their 05-09 427R or RS3. We made what Roush should have done for these model years.

All of this time a handful of people doubted me saying this or that. Regardless, I'm glad I can contribute.

So are you saying you have a "kit" to transform our 05-09 clusters?

Will this work on a base GT?

You must have the My Color option/cluster. Prior to buying the BlackJack we were working on my wife's 2006 GT Premium, which evolved from being a RTC clone, to a RS3 clone, to a RS3-P51 hybrid, to a RS3-P51 + Gerald style Franken-project. We purchased a derelict 427R cluster, but were severely disappointed by the 1980s/1990s Indiglo and lack of the Information Hub, so she asked me to look for a contractor that would create us one. We actually still have that 427R cluster laying around ha-ha!

Don't quote me, but I believe I read that 05-07 GTs all came equipped with all harnesses required for ambient lighting options and the harnesses for the My Color Cluster/controller, whereas the 08-09 didn't if one of the aforementioned wasn't selected. You will notice a blacked out area that looks like it had a triple set of buttons, all of which act as the My Color/Infohub controller.

I haven't tore into the 2008 BlackJack in such a way as to discover this were true or not, but we had backups made with the intention of exploring this in that car as well as to have spares around. Since all Roush cars are GT bases, you'd either need to do what we did to a GT Premium or buy a My Color Cluster. Yes, you can slap a My Color cluster in any 05-09 S197 and have it work, but you need the controller for it AND make sure you even have the harness to relay the commands.

Yes, the kit I contracted to have created has all of the reflective lenses and pieces to do it. I think the entire process took us about 3 hours to do. I have pictures of me doing the entire process. I did it wearing my surgical magnifiers as my wife watched Murder She Wrote! I'll try to post the pictures when I find them.

I am very interested in this project I always was liking the my color choice, but when I got my 427R I was a little disappointed, but that soon went away. I would love to see about doing this if you do find those pics and information
