What will the Roush Mustang offer in 2010?

Lets get the conversation going. What do you want in a 2010 Roush Mustang?

(artist rendering)

Roush is indeed working on the next best thing, though little is known about what type of modifications will be done or what it will look like. It is also rumored that Roush has been involved with the development of the stock 2010 Ford Mustang outside of doing their own version.

So, given the fact that Roush is working hard to have a 2010 Roush Mustang on the market as close to the debut of the Ford Mustang as possible, what do you hope to see?

• What models/packages? ie Stages, special versions, etc.

• What kind of styling? ie understated, more dramatic, ect.

• What kind of engine modifications?

Just speaking of my own car. You have this amazing car (427R) with a sweet engine that everyone loves to look at. But when you look close you see some really ugly valve covers! If Roush is going to be making something for us to show off, why not change out the valve covers. I mean he puts a chrome supercharger on there that only makes the covers stand out even more as dull and unfinished... Make that engine really sparkle. That was one of the things as a teenager we all did. Chrome up the engine starting with the valve covers and air cleaner, but these covers require a lot more work to change out... Right Kandy?

I might suggest styling cues that would be unique to the next generation, something that separates it from the others.

i.e the side exhaust from the earlier cars, the ROUSH embossing on the S-197s etc.....

Maybe addressing the weak clutch issues on the supercharged cars.....

Same thing we said back in 1973.
The Darn Thing is too big!!
It is longer, but you can't sit in the back seat unless you can still wear underroos or whatever.
Of course, we don't want another Mustang II.
Shorter wheelbase, not as wide, lighter, but with a 5 liter engine.

Roush doesn't have much to do with all that

I would like to see a weight reduction.

And now prepare yourself for the sacrilige (sp?)...

Then possibly a turbo v6 istead of a SC V8 making 450-500hp and getting 30 or more MPG.

Or maybe even a plug-in hybrid version of the same.

Sorry if that offends anyone, but I would just like the US automakers to take the lead for once instead of just playing catchup to foreign ideas all the time.

Fewer "specialty" models. Get back to the basic Stage 1, 2, and 3. Maybe one model each year where Roush lets their engine guys open one up like the P-51.

I want more power than the new Camaro or Challenger, I want more style than anything else on the road and I want to out corner it too.

Oh and I'd like to get it cheaper too.

That's not too much to ask for is it?

I was at my dealership today and discussed the very question with the Roush rep. He just got back from Roush and said they are already doing quite a bit. He mentioned that are working on an "Aviator" model that will approach 700 HP. He also mentioned a version with the glass top model stang. Of course, they've been way wrong on other things, so I guess it's wait and see.

Some sort of 'functional' hood scoop, one piece driveshaft, specially designed Roush hood pins, 3:73/4:10 gear option, optional factory installed headers (if emissions possible)?, upgraded Roush (optima AGM style) battery. I know some of this is already available or possible to do but having it factory installed on a build sheet would be nice!!

I agree complety with 07_427R and Folome.

Plus let's have painted stripes and maybe Roush could make their own roush hood. A special hood would really set it apart, kind of like the way saleen's hood sets their cars apart. Not to mention the hood fluttering issue with the S197 stock hood.

The folks at Roush are excited about it so I'm sure we'll like it.

2010 mustang??

who cares, i want to see the ROUSH camaro, LOL!

i would hope to see less special builds, more forged rotating assemblies, better gearing, and for them to ditch the m90 all together.

and a ROUSH all wheel drive focus gt would be sweet!

First thing for me, and resonable is a FULL Roush rear bumper. I really don't like the add on peices that Roush uses. For the price I want a full bumper.

I have to agree with the too many specialty models. Stick with the 1,2,3, and even the 427 type series.

More power is a must. I want to see at least 450 hp. really more like 500 since the stock Camaro and Challenger are supposed to have 400 hp. The TVS charger should be the standard, at least this gives room to expand, and will keep some of the haters at bay. (the ones that hate the little M90)

Otherwise, I like the brakes (overall), the interior is nice, dash is nice, suspension is ok. maybe add more parts in on the suspension, LCA's at least. These cars really need them.

For exterior sytling, The look Roush has created now is Great, the car looks like a mean machine, gets lots of looks, and fits the Mustang. Not like the new Saleen that looks more like a BMW.

0% financing for 72 months and no more "special edition" every six months.

I pretty much agree with this , more power by way of the TVS , the M90 has run its course, the brakes and susp. are all ready good parts , but don't expect too much , because the after market is way to big for these cars. At least add the boost , oil, and fuel guages in every Roushcharged car!

I like just about everything I've read...yes fewer SPECIAL models...back to the basics...and since everyone or just about gets the suspension package...just make it part of the deal...as for power adders...I love my blown JRC....but I think the future is in V6 power plants...I know thats blasphemous...but hey reality huh. V8's will still be out there...but we all know its going to be at a PREMIUM...all the talk is about some whispered twin turbo six banger....lets see what Jack and the techboys can do with that...or a supercharged six...

I like the idea of blinging up the engine bay to...my 03 has black and chrome ROUSH valve covers...which I think look pretty cool...but I agree you 3V boys the covers are not perdy at all...I've seem some interesting treatments though...and the after market is riff with ideas there.

I agree with everyone so far. Maybe they could offer a more fully equipped Stage 1 with suspension, Stage 2 with a standard SC, and a Stage 3 that is different every year with more power (sort of making the P-51A, 427, etc into a different Stage 3 every year).

That way you have three models but really special cars each year.
