    Question Boost Gauge Installation

Does anyone know what color wire the factory splices into at the headlight or dimmer switch on a 2010 427R with the My Color lighting for the Vent Pod Boost Gauge light ?

From headlight switch; purple with gray tracer or pink with gray tracer. I'll have to check mine in the morning to be certain.

    Thanks bingo2,
I was hopeing someone with a 2010 could look at their car. I called Roush and they told me it was spliced into a White wire with a Purple tracer off of the dimmer, but according to the Ford service manual wiring diagram there is a White wire with an Orange tracer on the dimmer switch. There is a White wire with a Violet tracer on the headlight switch. I don't have my car yet (it's coming from Utah) so I can't look at the actual switches.

Frd, it is the purple/gray off the headlight switch. This will illuminate the gauge and provide dimming capability. I couldn't find a convenient grounding point near the switch so I ran the ground wire under the dash and behind the center console to the factory grounding point behind the glove box. To access the grounding point, push the sides of the glove box in and the lid will drop down exposing the grounding point.

I've attached an illistration from the Roush M90 installation manual showing the Roush preferred take-off point ( step 7) for the boost/vacuum line to the gauge. It isn't easy to access; you must remove the air box lid, air tube and throttle body. There may be a plastic fitting with multiple outlets or a metal fitting with one outlet located on the rear of the upper intake manifold. If you have the plastic one, you can use one of the capped outlets, otherwise you'll have to "T" into the line going to the IPTS sensor. Mine had the metal fitting so I did the latter using a 7/64th soft "T" purchased from Kragen Auto; none of the fittings/adapters furnished with my Autometer gauge were useful for this part of the installation. Additionally, I didn't like the plastic line furnished with my gauge, it is too stiff and the I wanted line that was colored black to blend in with the existing under hood wiring. I found some in black with a better pressure/temperature rating on the net. I have plenty left (had to buy 25') so if you want some, PM me your address and I'll send it to you.

Is it difficult to add a boost gauge?

I'm trying to install the Roush LED Vac/Boost Gauge in my '12 GT500.... I tried "testing" the gauge by wiring to the light switch alone, the gauge lights up only if the light switch is in "parking lamp" or "headlight" mode. Once you turn the switch to "off", gauge goes completely dark.
I am trying to use an "add-a-ciruit" fuse wire kit & initially tried tying the red & white together and install in either fuse position # 14 then 26 with no luck. I used the bolt behind the glove box to get a good "ground" source [two bolts found, used the left one w/larger ground wiring].
Here's a link to the site that I also asked on SVT Performance

I know mines a '12, but the wiring should almost be the same for 2010 thru 2012, right?
    Thanks!
I tried calling Roush Performance twice, and ended up leaving voicemails [no response from them...]

That sounds right. Double check to make sure you have power on those fuse positions even when the lights are off.

If you go to the Roush site, look up the Gauge and download the instructions. it will tell you which wires to hook up to it will be white during the day, blue at night, or any combination you want (blue during the day, white at night etc) I have one in my 2012 and have it set to be white during the day and blue at night. You have to hook up two different wires to make it light up without the head lights on. Also, if you do follow the instructions and want it to be blue at night, it will only happen sometimes. You must bypass the switch and the "smart box" and wire into the left headlight wire. The headlight switch only sends a signal to the gauge and it doesn't always change it from white to blue. If you wire in directly to the headlight wire after the switch it will work as it should. Roush was unaware of this issue since they wire them all to be white at day and night.

Dadz, where is the headlight wire you refer to? Is it in the cabin or in the engine bay?
