Well its been a while since I've been on the site. Guess I need to check in more often. Looks like a few others now have the Supercharger on the 5.4.
I've had mine for over a year now and it just turned 20,000 miles.
I"ve had a few issues, but all said and done its been a great truck.
I too had my PCM re flashed to remove the top speed Gov., It seemed silly to have a blown truck that toped out at 87 mph.
Anyway, I worked with a guy Doug at http://fordspecialists.com/ he downloaded my factory Roush program and then tweaked it for the top speed gov and my tire size increase. Otherwise all things were left per Roush.
When summer here in Az rolled around I started having detonation problems at higher RPM just before the truck shifted, I was reluctant to take it back to the dealer, thinking they would prob send the PCM back to Roush and I'd lose the tweaks I'd already paid for. Instead I contacted Doug again at http://fordspecialists.com/ for some assistance. I've got some experience with Turbo charged VW motors in rails and such, and we typically retard\pull 1 degree of timing out for each pound of boost that comes in with an MSD -6 BTM box.
Using this seat of the pants logic and Doug's help, we started pulling some timing out of the Ford starting around 1600rpm and having all the retard in by
4000. It took several try's ,with me sending the box back and him pulling a couple more degree's out , downloading and mailing the box back to me.
But we finally hit on a solution that seems to be working. I think we ended up with about 7-8 degrees retard from the Roush setting.
I have only run the best (highest octane) pump gas available here in the truck from day one. I guess its just a matter of the amount of boost combined with the Az heat thats been the problem.
I agree with the above statements about the need for an intercooler, its not an option its damn near mandatory out here.

Some may not agree with my method of getting around the detonation problem.I guess I could have downloaded the stock prog and taken it into the dealer. But based on my past experience with dealer service, I just thought I'd give it a shot myself.

I'll save my lowered suspension & wheel hop\broken driveshaft yoke story for another post.
