When I proffesionally installed my shifter myself. Comparing the old and the new the roush rubbers were much harder then the stock ones. that's what makes it much better to shift as it takes the the slack out so when really shifting hard the there is no compressing of the rubbers making for a more acurate shift. Solution: Take off the boot cut out a circular piece of dense foam about 2" thick wide a enough width to touch the sides of the tunnel and put it over the shifter and reinstall the boot and presto no noise
