Whipple recommends Red Line water wetter. They say add 1 bottle. My understanding is as said above, it helps with water tension and also reduces air bubbles caused by the water pump ( cavitations ).
Just using water does not sound like a good idea. Water does not transfer heat as well as Anti Freeze.
I used Red Line in my '67 GT350 while in Florida and it worked. It dropped my water temp. by 20 degrees.
