Side Skirt Problem (need help)

Okay I have a 98 GT with the roush body kit. i did all the work myself and i'm troubled with the side skirts. The problem is that they don't flush with the body under the side scoops. It sticks out about and inch! Is there some kind of glue that anyone used because that tape crap didn't work any of the 3 times. I'll take any advice.

Duramix, Part # 4152.

Urethane adhesives made specifically for plastic add on parts, such as spoilers, flares, air dams, impact strips, emblems, and various other ground effects parts to metal or plastic panels.

It's not cheap, at $26.00 for 6 fluid ounces... and another $50.00 for the applicator gun needed for these specially designed cartridges... but if you can find a reputable body shop they should carry the stuff and already have the gun needed to apply it.

I just got back from AutoZone and found a "plastic to metal" welding glue for $3. It says it bonds plastic to fiberglass in 15 minutes. Is this the same stuff for a fraction of the price?

Eh... if it was my car, I wouldn't chance it. The Duramix is a 3M product. They have several different applications and part numbers, but the one I listed was made for this type of body work.

I had looked into all of the adhesives and body shops both locally back home and here (stationed in Germany) and the one name they kept recommending was the Duramix.

Pricey, but I didn't want something that would stay on for a week or two and then peel away. The whole reason why I pulled the tape off the skirts as soon as they arrived. I just bit the bullet and ordered 3-4 tubes and the applicator gun myself since I had a spoiler, skirts, and both rear and front valances to install.

Back to your question though... that stuff might work, or might not... but do you really want a $3 tube of glue holding on expensive skirts like ours?

I finally used the ProBond (Elmer's) product which is used for plastic molding. Recommended by the guys at Roush. Ever since, I have not had any issues...

Target $5.50

Cool Great points let's share some more though ......

Some application examples (pics, directions etc...) might be helpful to anyone else who has had this problem.

Then I could make it a stcik .... FAQ for those that continue to ask.
