Exclamation Unique 96 Stage 2... or a BS story??

Ok Roush enthusiasts... nows ur time to shine. Honeslty I know squat about Stangs cuz i have yet to own one. However I recently came across an interesting vehicle which I am considering for purchase. Please advise.

Suposedly Roush didnt start building cars in their factories till 97. However a personal friend who works at this dealership had me speak with the "Mustang specialist salesman" who claims the story of the car to be this....

Its a 96 Mustang Cobra. The man who originally purchased the vehicle was tryin to get sponsored/endorsed by Roush so he brough it to them and had the stage 2 kit installed. Supercharger, suspension, hood, skirts, etc. The trunk skirt says Mustang GT....? The car has 7500 (hundred) miles. Super clean. Price is $15,500.00

Im thinkin i wanna buy it but since there is so much grey area in Roush's history during 96 and i cant find another car anywhere like it to compare it too, i have no idea.... Is this truley a unique mustang well worth 15K? Or is it a BS story, coupled with highway robbery? Please help.

It is kind of hard to say. Is there a serial number in the pass. door jam? Call Roush with your Vin number they might have some info. But the early years are real grey in this matter. Can you get us some better pics?

Cool

First, welcome.

-True

ROUSH contracted local builders to handle regional requests for vehicles in varying builds. Poor records between builders and ROUSH prevented owners from having a comprehensive breakdown of number of vehicles built in the various stages, much like the post 01 vehicles.
-WHOLE TRUTH

Check the firewall for a RPP build plate.
Although additional pictures would be nice but, the only true confirmation remains at ROUSH HQ or if someone recognizes it from a regional builder. Ie. I had a pretty good handle on vehicles built for S Fla between 97-00.
If you can recognize the era-specific components and badges look correct .... that's the best confirmation you get.
If it's a SC Cobra BDR or ROUSHGUY may be able to ID the car.
Again, welcome and hopefully we can answer any other questions you have the 1st GEN ROUSH fleet.

An SC Cobra...? Its supercharged and its a cobra but its a roush supercharger should i still try and talk to BDR or ROUSHGUY? SC- supercharged; and the ROUSH roots supercharger was only for SOHC; otherwise for the DOHC it was centri{probably Vortech}; yes, they have a lot of great info I don't have access to.

Of course better pics of the outside and interior and the firewall/engine bay.

Some good info on the S/C Cobras from ROUSH are in the STICKYs for reference, verification rules.

Hmmm..... Looks like the car from the Roush Cobra package. Black '96 w/ a charger (I think it was a Vortech.) I have the brochure somewhere. It could be that car... Cobra front bumper, side exhaust, and 18" Old Skewl Roush wheels (Koesi Wheels.)

Yeah. But that can be fixed with a nice cowl hood. I think white would look good for a 95 S3 clone.
