The Registry
I was just wondering.... is pretty much everyone on here that has a Roush on the registry? Because, I just looked, and when I put in "Cobra, Convertible" in the search, it came up with 5 total, and there are very few older cars, period....if that's the case, and the Red one we have is also the real deal, which it kinda looks like it is, we're trying to find history, but that would make this one pretty rare too....Which seems really odd and definitely out of character for our family to get 2 lucky breaks on cars like these!
So, anyway, I'm sure I've seen more Cobra Roushes than what are registered, right? I'd just like to know. I'm also going to call Roush with the VIN, even though They'll probably say they have no records, but it's worth a shot! Justin

Thanks Smoke, but I guess I was referring to the newer ones too, I mean, Roush stepped up production through the years, how come there aren't more Cobras from 99 and up?
And yes, for the record, we know how lucky we are to have found the first one, that was just pure dumb luck! Well, actually the second one is too, I was looking for rear discs for a 8.8" rear end for my Fairmont, when I saw a pic on the bottom of the page of a Mustang wearing a Roush valance, I about flipped! We bought the car the next morning, after talking to him on the phone a few times. Maybe we were meant to have them! :P Anyway, thanks for the reply, I kinda thought at least that all the members of fnsweet would at least be registered, but that doesn't look like the case. Oh well. Thanks, Justin

There just arent that many Roush Cobras. They are RARE. If you look at our production numbers page, you will find that only about half a dozen have been made.

We found out that there were 11 made from 2003-04 (even though the chart says different). Then there are the 95-01's. I can count at least 6-8 of these. |

I knew they were rare, but I didn't think they were THAT rare! wow.Well, I'm checking into different options right now, trying to get a rebuilt title or something for our red one, anything, just so it can be back on the road. I was really surprised that we found the 97, and that it was a Stage 2...and on a sidenote, my dad just got off the phone with Roush about a half hour ago, they said that if it had a Roush window sticker, it was definitely built in house, They were the only ones that put that window sticker in them. Amazing. SO, I'm sitting here shaking my head in disbelief. They just wanted a Cobra to drive, and it seems like the further we get into the story, the more unbelievable it becomes! And now, I found another one, another Fluke? I can't seem to wrap my mind around it.... I just finished reading that book "The Cobra in the barn" about forgotten cars, and this seems like someday, could almost be one of those stories. (Excellent book by the way!) Wow again. Thanks guys, Justin

PS we're still trying to track down histories, we can't find the original owner of the 97, we were hoping to find some pics from 97, he obviously babied it, putting 27k miles on it in 5 years, til he sold it to the second owner, who obviously abused the car. I'm going to run a Carfax right now and see if we can get any further on either of them. Keeping my fingers crossed!
And something I just thought of.... even if we can't get this red one back on the road someday, I'm thinking we almost can't take it apart, can we? Even if it just goes to shows or sits in someone's collection. I wanted a DOHC motor, but not if it means taking apart a Roush. Hopefully I can find out for sure. It sure looks real though, and i'm a skeptic when it comes to things like this... Justin
