New Coolling Upgrades.....

So i started my cooling upgrade..... Fluidyne radiator, New hoses, 180 thermostat, new hi performance pump, Canton over flow.

I did not finish though. Got everything back together and found out the canton tank does not fit with the fan because of the thicker radiator. So i am tryng to modify the fan shroud so it will work. I might just upgrade the fan while i am at it.

I did the same upgrades a few years ago. Seems that the CCRM (constant cooling relay module) went and wasn't turning the fans on. I bypassed that with a Flex-a-lite MOSFET adjustable fan controller and now the needle won't even move on the expressway. In town it doesn't get past half way on the hottest days and maybe one fourth on the normal ones. It is definitely a tight fit with the Fluidynes. I heard that with a Vortech is a nightmare fit.

Did you replace your stock fan? If so with what. I was thinking about this...

And where did you get this "Flex-a-lite MOSFET adjustable fan controller"?

I kept the stock fan but did the Fluidyne Radiator with a Stewart Water Pump (stage 1 or 2, I forget...) also did 180 degree stat and the fan controller. The fan you linked to might not even cool as well as the stock one. The shroud area on the factory one covers the whole radiator, while that one is going to leave a big portion un-shrouded. I would go stock (make sure the motor is in good working order - big problem on 94-95.) If you have to change the fan, I would try to fit a Black Magic on there. They don't make one specific for our year (they do 79-93) but I would try to make it fit. That has the controller built in and pulls CFM like crazy.

The install is not hard at all. I did sucessfully modify my fan shroud to all for the new Canton tank. I need one hose from the overflow to the radiator. I will get that tommorrow. Everything looks great so far.

I've read that some of the 5L guys using a Mark VIII fan to supply their needs. Pulls @ 5000 CFM, and shroud fits over most of the radiator. Only problem is it runs some high amps on initial start up so you would have to wire it accordingly. Just a thought on an alternative to the flex-a-lite.

I might look into that. I have not driven my car since all of this. My heater core decided to go out. I have one coming in on Tues. So i will attempt the install shortly after.

Well it is looking good! Always nice to see a "good" project car! I think you will have replaced everything by the time you are done with the car... Which gives you something to do beside search threads. As i said looking great! jim

HA. I got a few other things sitting around waiting for install after the heater core goes in. But from what little i have ran it so far the cooling increase is dramatic.

No i dont have temps. But Before when i would run around in it it would be around the "L" in NORMAL. Now it stays around the "R" and when the fan kicks on the needle literally plumits to the "N".
