Wink New Member & Car (Pic too)

Hi all ... long-time reader, brand new poster/member.

Attaching a pic below of my baby. She is a work in progress, and this pic is a little dated. I had big plans Thursday to get her washed and have a photo-shoot done and was going to share the pics with you all, but the woman I am seeing (was seeing maybe, at this rate ) hopped into her when I had climbed out for a moment, locked herself into the drivers seat, and drove my car into a cement pillar.

Chewed my driver's side ground effect up, ate the paint off it, scratched the bumper to all hell, and I've got duct-tape holding it together until I bring it into the shop monday to the tune of around $500 of body work and painting, more if I have to replace parts. Hopefully the front left fascia is salvageable .. doesn't look like too much damage was done, but if it doesn't look *just* right I'm going to end up having to buy another, as I can't stand having my car look "off".

Moral - always remove your keys when you step out of the vehicle, even for a second .. and never let a woman who last drove a 5-speed 7 years ago, a 4cylider-junker at that, behind the wheel of your 'stang

Current mods are mostly cosmetic. Limited funding has led to a *slow* GT-to-Roush conversion on my part, and "accidents" like the above just slow me down even more.

I'm the car's second owner, and I haven't seen the pony rims on my car before anywhere else (maybe I just don't pay enough attention?) .. so .. if anyone has info on them, let me know.

Glad to be here, hope I can stay

Welcome, that's a nice Roush conversion man . I'm pretty sure those rims are the 17inch upgrade from 98 (maybe 97 too?). I have them on my 98 (pic in sig). I'm the second owner too, so I can't be 100% positive. But they look nice and shiney, what do you do to keep em clean and reflective?

Heh, yeah, from what I've read around here .. me and my problems will fit in fine

As for the wheels, RoushWannaB98GT, .. yours is the only other I've seen with them around. Could be the upgrade, would make sense I guess. I like them, they might not be overly flashy and streamlined-looking, but I've grown to like my lil ponies.

I wish I could take credit for the shine, but that pic was taken right after I got back from one of those full service car washes. They had a wheel treatment package that I figured was worth the couple extra bucks. (Good part was, after the machine sprayed down the wheels and rims, a pair of barely legal cuties that worked there (and had been eye'n my car) ran over to volunteer to buff and shine my rims. I so wish I had my digital camera with me then!

Yea, I agree with you about the rims.. they're not bad, but their not overly exciting either... I have seen then on other stangs before, but not too many. I've been eyeing me some 18in Roush or 03 SVT rims. Those would be bad ass.

As for the hotties Nice work!

i had those rims on my 98 GT, they are like Premium package wheels on 98 and 97. Also, sometimes they are polished and sometimes they are just satin, so some can shine, other not that much.

Ive got them on my 96, but im a second owner so I dont know for sure, but all the Ford dealerships that I have talked to, know that on the 96+ they were an option. Mine are satin, I like them, very good lookin rims, This is an old pic, I will have newer ones tomorrow hopefully.

Wow. .. the rims are more common then I thought then. Theres at least 4 'stangs within walking distance of my house .. none of them have had anything other than stock looking run of the mill rims.

I dunno', I'm just not a huge rim guy, I guess, and I know if I go and get a nice set of chrome 18's I'll have to chrome out OTHER parts too so it looks uniform .. and I don't want to cross over into the "bling bling" zone. Did like the look of a set of 18s with the shiney Roush brake set behind it though. Were some SVTs on Ebay the other week, wonder if they're still there.

Got the little mini-bra after seeing some pics on the web of others having done it, and liked how it looked. It collects ALOT of gunk and crud though .. I find myself clearing out twigs and leaves and such quite often .. sometimes needing to wash under there even when the rest of the car looks spotless. I'd heard some people complain that excess silt or sand getting stuck under there could ruin the paint if it rubs excessively .. so I check the bra more than I check my oil now.

Dropping her off Monday morning for what hopefully will be only a couple days in the body shop to get it sanded down and repainted.

cept for drag racing, but that GT wasn't hooked up.
