S3 Brake question.....Brake pads....

I'm needing to replace my brake pads on the front of the S3.

Does anyone know the part # for the Alcon 14" brakes ????
Does anyone have a recommendation for another type of
brake pad that will work on these ?

Overall, I would love to find a better brake pad than what
Roush has supplied us with on these brakes. With ordering the
pads from Roush 2nd (if there isn't anything better).

I just hate all the brake dust

Those brake pads are nasty! Going to a show. Polish the wheels when you get there. Oh wait we need the car over in a different spot. Car runs for 5 seconds, and you have to polish them all over again. Not that I'm bitter about it or anything...

Our part number for the pads: PNO4441X747S.4

Unless it's recently changed, the standard Roush pad is SBS (Scandinavian Brake Systems) street pad. Of course it depends on the braking requirements but the SBS pad is quite good for normal street use. Dust is moderate, no noise, and good at lower temperatures.

I have Hawk HPS+ pads which are more dust, some noise, not good at lower temps but more bite and less fade at high temp for road course use

Yes, that's the part number on the parts website. It's under Mustang Brakes.

How easy would you say it is to change them ?
Can a somewhat mechanical guy handle it ? or should
I bring it into a local shop to have done ?

Thanks for the part numbers and all.

My installation knowledge is limited, but brake pad replacement in general isn't too tough. If you get the caliper off and aren't sure of yourself, definitely get some sort of assistance. I can talk to the mechanics about it, see if there's anything tricky with the Alcons if you want.

That would be great, I'm just use to the brakes on older
cars (79' etc.). If there's nothing to complicated I'll be able to
handle it. Any extra details would be great.

Not to change the current discussion, but the brake dust is a f'n nighmare. I thought my M3 made a lot of dust. These pads/set-up is a nightmare. Sorry had to vent.

Back to your featured program.....
