I hate it when semi trucks blow tires...

and you just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Could have been worse I suppose, actually glad I'm alive.

Was traveling on the freeway and a semi lost its left rear and left a big hunk of it in the lane infront of me, I had no where to go except over it on my left side. I found the nearest exit and as I slowed it felt like a tire rub and sounded like my right front brake was dangling loose. Upon further inspection my drivers side exhaust tip was touching my left rear wheel. I got it off the wheel and cruised home, never got the name of the semi, he keeped going, I was so freaked out. Could have been worse.

I'll have to go to work tomorrow and put it up on a lift to see if anything else is wrong, maybe take the pipe off and bend it back in shape and put it on again.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. You would think they would have stiffer regulations against those trucks.

He probably never even knew it blew!
That Happened to me and Deb on the way back from the 40th heavy traffic semi shoots out a tire tread and no place to go!!

I was lucky though we were in the truck and the car was on the trailer so all I did was run over it in the truck and went over it with the trailer.

Hopefully you will be lucky as well and nothing major with yours either.

Marc

I blew one when I was driving generator truck for WCW. I walked back and pulled the debris off the road, tire, chrome mudflap weight, chrome tailight covers. (A) Most drivers don't know that they blew a tire. (B) Some are too FN' lazy to get their fat ass out of the truck. (C) There isn't a safe place to stop to get the debris off of the road.

Many times if I'm in my truck or the car, I'll stop and remove (gators) tire debris from the road. Just lookin' out for my fnsweet brothers and sisters.

That sucks, it kinda happened to me too. I was leaving the mall one day and curb checked my right skirt and the pipe was pushed into my tire. Didn't notice till aobut a mile or 2 down the road when i smelt that wonderful burning rubber. Got home and noticed what had happend and pulled the pipe from the wheel, man did it leave a huge shred line down my tire. Oh well just another fn repair on paint job.

dude most ofthe time truckers dont even know they blew a tire unless its their front steering tires. i blew a tire once on I90 and didnt know about it till i got to my first stop for the day.

and there is not much to do to regulate that stuff. it jsut happens. cars have tires blow too.

hopefully the damage is minimal.

One reason not to tailgate a semi, imagine a gator coming off when your 10 feet behind a semi, the following distance of most idiot drivers,(not fnsweeters), the tire will be in your lap before most people could get on their brakes. A gator like that will weigh close to 50 lbs.(Cranky, she's a big one), use Crocodile Hunter voice here.

It happened to me back in December...there was a large piece of tire in the middle of the road...it crushed my pipe...it was the second time I had dammage done to the exhaust...the first time I had to replace my exhaust due to a 6inch rip in the muffler...this time though all it did was crush the pipe...luckily a place in town just cut the pipes and refabbed some new ones.

So I get to work and put my car up on a rack where I can see the carnage and low and behold my sidepipe from the muffler was loose, we loosened the nuts and tightened them back down in place and that fixed the pipe situation.

Problem #2 appeared after I walked towards the front of the vehicle to find a piece of semi truck radial wedged between the front sway bar intruding into the sidewall of my front drivers side tire. It wore it down to the core radial.

Time for replacement tires. Whats a good tire to replace with thats affordable for a stage 3? 265/35 ZR18 Seems like where I've checked around the Bfgoodrich TAs are around $278.
