Sometimes I wish it wasn't so low

Well today was a very upsetting day for me. I was driving SLOWLY over a very rough and torn up road. This road is highly traveled by dump trucks and eighteen wheelers and I guess from all the traffic by these big vehicles, part of the road has actually crumbled. Well although I was driving slowly, and tried to avoid the raised asphalt, I heard part of the underbody of my Roush hit something. It turns out, a piece of the road had snagged my side exhaust, bending it back towards the tire.

Really though, just get used to this. You have to really think about where you take the car and be watchful of everything from pot holes, speed bumps, driveway entrances at shopping centers (the worst).

The first day I owned mine I tore my exhaust pipe OFF leaving my previously favorite coffee joint in front of a crowd of onlookers (embarassing)

You will get used to where your car can and cannot go....a seventh sense.

The first day ?!?!? Oh man that must have sucked eggs.

I've had two audible scrapes in the two months I have had the car. Nothing bent or broken just some paint off the underside (phew) of the front spoiler. Don't ask me what I scraped the second time its was underneath the car and I have'nt found it yet. Even the most careful driver is going to have a run-in once in a while with the various obstacles Shay pointed out. The price you pay for being low (or high).

ha, I did the same thing my first week. I clipped a curb in a parking lot at 5mph and the tip was touching the tire when I was done. You can take it to any muffler shop and they will torch bend it back to the original position for $15. Hope it turns out ok, stay out of trouble

$15 damn I hope so. Tomorrow im going to find a shop that can either use a pipe-bender or beat it back the way its supposed to be. I just hope they dont want $100 labor or something

Actually, I have found that you can strong-arm them back into position often enough.

That's funny............or is it?

You can also reach under and loosten the U-bolt that holds the outboard pipe to the muffler and easily re-adjust it yourself if it wont budge. I have been able to do it by just raising the car a few inches with a floor jack.

Takes about 5-minutes.

CK - it happens often enough that you'll get used to it. If you reach under with a 15mm (i think) you can losen the pipe that comes out of the muffler and move it that way.

You may have to jack the car up first. If you havent had to do this yet, a couple of boards to drive on will help you get a floor jack underneath.

Be sure to use jack stands!! We wouldn't want to lose a new member!!!

Mine (the Tips) are now chromed and disconnected. I made a short piece up welded to the frame they never hit and always look great. I run Mac L tube headers and center dumps sounds like its still coming from the tips without the problems of bottoming out and my car is so low that I hit dead squirels on the road no bull .

CK, is your car totally slammed, or normal S3 suspension height?
How many of you guys w/o the side exhaust kit, hit your Sfc's on the road? I am getting ready to install mine and they hang 2" lower than the rest of the car. For guys that do have the side exhaust, do the sfc's hang lower or above the side kit?

It seems to me that I rub both side exhaust and SFCs - depending on the situation. My SFC's extend down another 1/2 inch compared to stock Roush SFCs.

I have the Roush sfc's, the one's that aren't really sfc's they are just supports. They bolt onto the pinch weld, not the rear subframe. Is that what you mean by stock and what do you have now? I also sent you a PM, some good news.
