Question For those of you with side exhausts, a question

I love the look, and sound, of the Roush Mustangs with the side exhausts, but how often do you drag on speed humps and the like ?

In normal, everyday driving, is dragging the side exhausts and skirts an occasional problem or an everyday occurance ? How much damage have you incurred ?

I'm debating between a Stage 3 or 380R is the reason for my asking.

Thanks,

Eddie

it shouldn't be a problem at all. the best way to avoid scraping the skirts/exhaust on speed bumps is to avoid them all together. also, be careful when making tight turns as you may end up scratching the side skirts.

I think I've scraped maybe three times, so it's not an everyday occurance. Just about anywhere you go, you don't have to worry about it. The only real places you'd have to watch out for are tall speed bumps or steep inclines entering parking lots or driveways. Basically, if you're paying attention while driving, you should be able to see where you might scrape and can avoid it. As for damage, the previous owner of my car managed to scrape the bottom of the side skirts really bad, so I can't really tell what I've done. I eventually plan on having them re-painted to get rid of the scratches, but I'm in the process of building up my motor right now and don't really have the cash to get them re-painted. It's not something that's overly noticable, but it bothers me just knowing that there are scratches.

I have some speed bumps where I live and I don't drag but I have to be very careful, the muffler clamps actually hit first. I do have some higher speed bumps that I know the car will drag on. (Thankfully I don't have to drive over them.)

You just have to be very careful how you drive, the low front end is another concern, be careful of driveways, cement parking dividers, etc.

Srcatch That...

Only the front fascia, sides are rarely a problem. You have to learn fast to park far away from curbs, not go into certain driveways, or go REAL SLOW!

Good advice...I do the same as most have said in here.

Most of the time I do not have a problem... but, you do have to develop a new mentality when driving. Hmmmm... can I make that incline, can I take that speed bump.... will I scrap in that dip...

Taking it slow helps... but to be honest once you get used to the car, you just "know" where and where not to drive.

Besides... the side skirts/pipes... well they just look really cool. They draw the attention.

i haven't ever scraped.....if i do not know the roads i am traveling on, or am not 100% sure i can get in, the roush does not even attempt it....basically, my advice...if you do not know where you are going and the roads, do not take the car there.....thats what i do and i have yet to scrape...my car is so low, i can not fit my head under the side sides and front bumper....mayeb 2 -3 inches of clearance at most......looks fnsweet!!! got the lowering springs on and all roush emblems and decals...will have pix as soon as i get one of my buddies with a digi cam to come over!!!

Roads are not the problem city driving is, I hit everytime I come out of my garage a little bit. I think if you don't have anything below your car you will never scrape.

The parking deck where I work seems to be the worst so far. Talk about getting used to my Roush... I used to drive a Wrangler!
