Temperature oddity ? ? ?

So Ive noticed that it seems to take FOREVER for the Stage 2 to warm up now that it is in the low 40's in the mornings. It takes about 15 minutes of driving to get the temp up to warm. Well I noticed something weird. If you start your car from a cold start and let it un for 5 minutes the gauge will still be at solid cold. Well if you turn off the car after those 5 minutes and immediately turn the car on again it goes right to warm Ive tried this about 4 times now always with the same result. Is the temperature reading just that slow that it needs to be reset to get an accurate temp? Just an oddity I noticed . . . .

Um, yeah, I'm sure this answered all your questions.

Hmmmm, mine doesn't do that(I have the Autometer cluster) It warms up quick. But then again, I haven't felt anything under 60 degrees since I moved out of Ohio a few years ago.

My suggestion: Move out of the damn frozen rust-belt. Sheesh.

My guess is the themostat is stuck in the open position. Thats is why the temp goes up when you shut off the car and taking forever to heat up. The block os warming up the temp sending unit. So change the thermostat. Do we still have warranty on the 03 ????jim

Now that you mention it

I didn't really think of it before, but that does sound like a thermostat. I had the opposite problem in a pickup I had. It woulld get real hot and when it finally built up enough pressure, the thermostat would pop and it would cool down real quick. $12.00 thermostat later, it was fixed. Thermostats have problems from time to time. Easy to fix though.

I dont know that you have a thermostat problem.

-When it is cold, it takes a while to warm up.

-When you shur off your engine, the coolant trapped in your block continues to heat up for a short time as it is no longer being ciruclated and cooled.

-The factory guages have a "fuzzy logic" programmed into them that prevents any fast movements or reading changes. This is done so that guages dont move around and fluctuate with any major excitement, causing alarm for stupid consumers who worry too much about everything. Thus, when changes occur, they are shown slowly. When you turn off the power and turn it back on, the guage sets at the start point which would not fall into the averaged algorythm

This is good info! I was wandering if it was the same delayed readings that the Lazy gas unit reads. ThX
